What age/size is it normal/ok for plants to start producing flowers?

Trying to decide if some plants started producing some primordial flowers due to some recent stress, or if it is just time and I should let them go?

I've seen a lot of the experienced growers here say that they prefer their plants to be about 2 feet tall before they stop pinching buds.

It's a cayenne, probably about 12"-18" tall, and maybe a few months old.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pinch them off now. I sat it outside today to start hardening it off, and it had no problem with the sun.

The damn Windy City wind ripped two of its larger leaves off though! :banghead:

I got nu mex heritahe 64 4-6 inchers flowering, as well as thai pri kik nu, 6 inch to 1.5 feet flowering, a 8 inch choc hab flowering,

they dont have to be big to flower.

I'm letting my little plants flower now too to get an early batch of peppers. I'm sure it will stunt their growth and as a result probably reduce my overall yield for the year, but I'd rather have a few up front and a moderate amount later in the year than none in the near future and a ton in the fall.

Then again I might feel differently in the fall when everyone else has a bumper crop and my plants are all still little. But well see.

I let one Hungarian Wax go to flower real early in the house last year and then saved the seed from the first pod. That way it was pure without work. Yes it definitely didn't produce well after that. (always have too many anyway)

I personally plan to pluck off each bud until 2 feet possibly even 2.5 feet tall. I want a big yeild at the end, I can wait. Patience pro over here :)

You can let them go at the height they're at if you like. The plant might not even start pods yet unless it's getting great conditions. Cayennes should set fruit relatively early if they have nice conditions and they'll just keep on growing too. Not to worry, if you give them plenty of sun they'll grow nice and fast and your plant will be over a meter high with tons of pods before you know it.
