Orange Rocoto

This plant is from pods that Judy (pepperlover) sent me years ago. It produces smallish pods but makes up for it in flavor and heat. These pods are more appealing to me as I prefer yellows and oranges over red varieties. Fruit on these are damn hot,and have the juiciness of citrus fruit.

How does this particular orange Rocoto rank in terms of hairiness of the stems compared to the other C. pubescens that you have grown?

These are intermediate in my opinion. The large podded mexican varieties are always my most pubescent plants though. I wouldn't say that is diagnostic, just what I notice. And that opinion is based on younger plants.

Great pictures. The orange pod looks juicy and full of fire. Do you eat them fresh?
Yes,almost daily. They aren't limited to that though. The jalapeno is the only pepper I can think of that is as useful as these.

I have a variety here that at times has a greyish look to it due to the density of the hairs and anthocyanin on the stems of fresh growth. There's a photo taken in poor light of one of the plants from a past season in an old thread of mine. The fruit seems to be a similar deeper shade of orange when compared to your photos in this thread.
