So we moved back in late August and we have quite a bit more room for our garden outside. I didn't have a whole lot of time to prep the garden location before it got cold. We have an abundance of mature oak trees and I kept a couple of large piles hoping to make some leaf mold. I'm going to test the soil when the ground thaws out to see exactly what I'm dealing with so I know what to amend it with.
I'm looking for some recommendations as to how I should approach this with the limited time I will have prior to plant out. I live in southern Illinois so the soil will be pretty decent where I am to start with. Any links to read would be great too. I read the pinned soil thread some, but that's mostly potting soil.
