fertilizer How do you test your soil PH? Related to using fertilizers.

I'm looking at using this fertilizer called Herculean Harvest, a liquid calcium phosphate fertilizer, which it recommends to use Olympus Up which is a PH raiser because I assume the Herculean Harvest brings down.

My question is how do you guys test your pH? I am seeing hand held electric meters for like 12$ but I don't know how accurate that can be.

you do a soil slurry test.

de ionized distilled water + soil... enough to get the soil into a slurry then you slam in a ph electrode. thats the easiest way.

you can also just take some soil lechate and try using litmus paper.

I meant do you trust these 12$ electronic testers or use the paper tests.

I couldn't really say not having conducted a side by side test. I have found though, that in this life, you get what you pay for.
