breeding Cross pollination question

I've got a jalapeño growing next to a cayenne (annum) and a Bahamian goat growing next to a ghost pepper (chinense).

Question: say the annums cross pollinate each other... The resulting cross would only show up if I grow the seeds from the fruit out, correct? So the pods on my cayenne plant, even if pollinated by jalapeño, will still be cayennes, not crosses, right?

Same thing for the chinense. Hope my question is clear. Thanks!

You're absolutely correct! Cross pollination does not affect the current fruits, only the seeds inside. You'd have to grow those out to see the cross.

Thanks! I thought I had it down but wasn't quite sure.
