breeding Can cross polination affect pod shape?

I have a paper lantern plant, and it's very close to a reaper plant. It has developed a pod with a very distinct stinger on it.

I was wondering if it's possible for cross pollination to affect the shape of the pod.

No.

To put it simply, the lantern and the reaper are the same species, and while they look different normally, it shouldn't be unexpected that every chinense has the potential to look like another one.

Changes in pod shape/pepper type wouldn't show up in the current pods. It could/would show up in the next generation plants if you harvested seeds from a cross pollinated pod and planted them.
