hybrid Annuum x Chinense - all crosses partially fertile?

Hi guys and girls,

I'm going to try my first pepper crosses this spring and the varieties are most likely Annuum and Chinense, but when i checked a breeding table it says they will be patially fertile / viable.... does this mean that i might get a few seeds that sprout or does it mean that only certain A/C or C/A crosses will produce good seeds while other combinations of A/C or C/A will produce all duds?

I would really like to get into creating my own stable hybrid and am going to use old landrace varieties, so hopefully they are a match. :)

Thanks forany info.

This doesn't directly answer your question, but it's something you might want to consider before chosing the parents. According to some studies, C. chinense should always be utilised as male parent to achieve viable hybrids with C. annuum to avoid Virus-like-syndrome or dwarfism in F1 hybrids.
