the crop is now ready for first major harvest...I picked about 12 pounds of yellow 7s after I took this video and will continue to pick until first freeze...

My deal with Central Market fell through (long story), so any/all of these harvested pods will be up for grabs...will post in the sales thread...

the plants are starting to get that really beat up look to them...which is usual for this time of year...had my first frost Sunday morning but it didn't effect the plants or pods...

enjoy...

I'm amazed at your ability to grow such nice, healthy and uniform looking plants in containers. Sorry to hear about the market deal. I'd love to see these types of peppers for sale in my local store.

Capsicum plants look great for this time of year all green and lush and loaded with bushels of fruit. Really sorry to hear about the central market gig but the best market is your friends at THP. I have another harvest but nothing like yours everything grows bigger in Texas haul, nice. Congrats on your terrific season maybe try to contact some sauce makers, seems to be a few around here. Stay thirsty my friends...

Sorry to hear about the market deal, that was exciting . :mope: An unbelieveable crop there AJ. :onfire: Looking forward to what you'll have for sale

thanks all for the compliments...it has been a good year...

hot stuff - these plants were started in late January or early February...as far as food goes...they get botanicare progrow (for soil) until transplant to 5 gallon containers then they get a Tbsp epsom salts once every 3 weeks or so (more often if they need to be greened up), a side dressing of 10-10-10 granular to begin with...and now that I have my drip fertigation system in, they get 10-10-10 vigaro liquid until they start podding then I switch to a higher PK...I used miracle grow tomato plant food about every 2-3 weeks on these...

I've seen a lot of info saying peppers don't need much fertilizer. Your garden is proof to me that they do respond to a good balanced feeding program.
Looking forward to seeing even more greatness from North TX in 2011!

thanks tonly...IMO if you plant in the ground and have good soil, peppers may not need much feed....but...since I grow in containers with potting soil, sand, and a little compost, I feel it is necessary to give them some food every now and again...

I am looking forward to the 2011 season although I may not grow as many plants to keep...will grow a bunch to sell April-June...craigs list was good to me this last spring...
