Best for salsa? Jalapeno and serrano. Maybe a low heat jalapeno for central Illinois consumption.

    Styrofoam or Plastic Cups?

I've used both and prefer the plastic "party" type cups. I just drill some drain holes. I picked up a proper seed flat for 2011.

The Purira plants are larger than the Twilights and the fruits are larger as well.

chinense Is a Naga Viper hotter than a Bhut

NMSU has requested seeds for this variety. It seems that the Viper creator is a CPI member. There is a note about this on CPI's website.

    favorite WHATS YOUR FAVORITE PEPPER??

The Tepin. It's the first one I run out of every year! It has an aftertaste like no other and I like the fast burn and fade. Brazilian Starfish is great too. Sweet and fuity, almost a dessert in itself and a nice medium heat. I just with they would produce better in my climate.

What will you grow next season?

I'm overwintering my Trinidad Scorpion and Tepin plants. I grow cayenne every year. I was very impressed with Matchbox this year. Small compact plant loaded with chiles and a pleasant fruity/juicy flavor and cayenne level heat. I'm hoping NMSU releases their Heritage Sandia for 2011. Other...

    chinense 7Pot and Trinidad Scorpion?

About 5/6 of my 7 Pots have stingers like the one on the left. The one on the right is a Trinidad Scorpion. I got the seeds for this 7 Pot from a different soure as the 7's I grew last year. Last year none had stingers. Other than the pimples they look nothing like last years crop. So is this...

    Relano Peppers?

In New Mexico rellenos are made with New Mexico/Anaheim type chiles. Not dried ones though. If you grow out the seed you will get some good ones for stuffing most likely.

Why Only "Hot Peppers?"....Shall we discuss "OTHER" peppers too?

 Maybe we need a sweet pepper forum here, for profiling purposes. ;)

Wonder why UPS and FedEx are kicking USPS Butt?

USPS, boxes with holes, envelopes anointed in enough oil to waterproof a roof. Employment for the unemployable. UPS, driver dependent, one will have a beat to death box sometimes with radical holes. The other produces perfect boxes! Personality disorder for one and OCD for the other...

    New Mexico: Red or green?

Most grocery stores have frozen red chile as well as green here in NM. In October I can even get chopped Chimayo in the freezer section but it doesn't last. Personally, I like red chile sauce on beef enchiladas and green chile sauce on chicken enchiladas. The chopped green chile is far more...
