  • Just ordered a pound of pumpkin powder. Wouldn't have crossed my mind to do so even just 2 weeks ago. Let the fun begin!

I buy pumpkin in cases of 6x3 kg cans. My dogs each get 100 grams a day in their meals. They love it!

More cooking experiments and at least a couple repeats of my latest. It proved to be very popular - peeps be telling me I should open a bakery. An interesting thought.

As in pumpkin powder in hot sauce? or in bakery?
Cinnamon. Cacao. Things we often associate as sweet, though they are not sweet in and of themselves. Going to do some experimenting to see if some unexpected things work well sweet. Should be interesting!

Yep and chocolate in con carne has long been a delicious mix. Also, don't forget jerk's heavy cinnamon usage.

Throwdown. Just one. That's what's on my mind.

only one tiny problem... I lost my $400 camera while shooting off a mid-powered rocket. Thus I would not be able to take any TD photos. le sigh..

Hi Ann! Yeast bread. I'm experimenting with "what if?" As in "What if I made bread with coffee in it?" or "What if I substitute cake flour for part of the A/P?" or "What if I toast the sugar before adding it in?"

So now I've made several loaves and have been force-feeding (ha!) them to folks I know, to ask their opinion of the flavor and/or texture. The loaf I gave to my falling coach? Gone in less than an hour!
Some food is so unattractive you do still mind, even though it tastes good.

    LOL Slug!

Part 2 - The sauce was too liquidy at one point, so the excess was strained off. My son wanted to save it and use it for something else. Ok - I used it today as the cooking liquid for some pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Now it was his turn with the look - "what is THAT?" Had to remind him THAT was what he wanted. Ha!
Very surprised - my son tried sprouting a blood orange seed - the single seed found in the ones I purchased. This has been well over a month ago. Today, found it sprouted!

I recently read somewhere (might have been over the rainbow...) that soaking older seeds in a solution of water and potassium nitrate (aka: saltpeter) will help them sprout. Haven't tried it yet, but your mention of seeds never sprouting reminded me of it. Thinking I'll do a side-by-side soon.

I am growing a blood orange tree. Takes forever to fruit. So far 4 years from seed. No fruits
You will never be disappointed if you have no expectations. On the other hand, you will also be boring.

I expect to learn how to triple jump by July 7. Ok, or maybe by August 19. Definitely by August 19!

Got a jar of horseradish mustard. My son scooped a spoonful and popped it in his mouth. The stuff is mostly horseradish. Need I say more?

Unexpectedly getting that much horseradish in the mouth can cause immediate redness in the face and a look like one just put a superhot into the mouth. Plus a look of utter shock. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised he didn't spit any out.

Got my CCN order yesterday. Today I remembered what drama queens Tsakoniki eggplant plants can be. They will be fine, but geesh! So glad the chile plants aren't like that!

Rawk I used the whole pineapple, core and all, on a poached salmon last night. It was outstanding!

Eating the core isn't bad. It can be tough and fibrous, so most peeps don't eat uncooked core. And since not eaten raw, it's not familiar cooked, either.

Me? I only rarely eat pineapple because it is too acidic - more than a few small pieces literally results in mild acid burn in my mouth - totally unpleasant.

Thanks, Ann. Things are progressing well - most of the large-area pain is gone now, though certain areas persist. I am hopeful that a week from now this will just be a memory. Onward and upward! ;)

Blue corn masa and enough red chile powder do, in fact, make a nice shade of violet. Just be careful about whom you invite to dinner. Ha!

I started running and taking a turmeric/curcumin extract w/ piperine (black pepper) since it's supposed to help with inflammation... not sure it makes a huge difference but I ran a 10k this weekend (6.2 miles) and I'm feeling pretty good about it!
Have broken my months-long hiatus from the culinary arts for tonight. The one burning question all must ask: Is it THE TB worthy? As Texans say, we're fixin' to find out!

As you should. I don't flirt with dudes. A woman will make you a sandwich while telling you she's leaving you. A dude never does that! Making the sandwich...I mean.
