lighting Lights vs. Natural Sunlight

I plan on growing my first seeds using just natural sunlight. Is that ok???
Do the plants benefit more from the lights???

Thanks!

And sorry if this has been gone over already.

The ONLY reason I use lights is to sprout indoors and get some size before I plant out.

Flourescents with grow bulbs work great for me.

Ditto... and it's also usually too cold for me to start my seeds outside. Starting them indoors under grow flourescents and a heat mat seem to do the trick for me..

Sunlight is just fine, but you can get an earlier/better start with the addition of some simple, cheap floro lights

In a window, your plants will grow a lot more slowly, but they will grow nonetheless. I would reccomend getting a 4-foot 2 tube fluorescent shop light fixture for about $20 because you will see much better results.

By natural sunlight I mean outside in direct sunlight... I know windows filter out alot of the good UVs that plants and animals need to thrive.

I guess by doing what I'm doing, I'm doing ok. Over 50% have sprouted within 2 weeks.
This is what I have planted so far... # planted/# sprouted

3/0 Jolokia (?)
1/1 "Redish-brown" Jolokia
3/0 7 pod
2/2 Thai Chili
3/2 Scotch Bonnet
3/1 Trinidad scorpion
3/3 Red Savina Habanero
4/2 Trinidad Lantern
3/3 Mushroom Pepper

(I know it's nowhere near the amount some of you are growing )
