We need a control group. Grow two buckets, one with lime added, and one with either nothing, or some other fertilizer. Dirt must be from the same source. Eliminate the possibility that your target is doing nothing, and that will help us to be sure that something is happening.

If that was a bag of Epsoma garden lime then its Dolomite which also has magnesium.

If you want to have less effect on ph you could use gypsum and epsom salts or make a acetate from the dolomite.
 
I wanted the effect on the ph because it has a lot of peat moss which will lower the ph. So I added the lime to raise it
