Wow I almost fell off my chair reading this. My sincere apologies Pam. I meant no harm; I was only trying to lighten up the thread with some humor. Sorry.

Plant Hormones, Rocks, and Hard Places

Well for what it's worth, I did hydro with nothing but mineral fert. And my plants grew like crazy. My plants never lacked auxins using only mineral fert. Me thinks you are suffering from "patientia ex AJ invidia" ;)

    Flower and pod question

Each seed is an ovule that was pollinated with a single pollen grain. So if you are pollinating with a brush that has pollen from different plants(habanero,jalapeno...), in a single pod you can have many different type of F1 seeds(MotherPlant X habanero,MotherPlant X jalapeno.....).

wanted Bird/Habs - seeds nearly ready, Who wants?

There it is, this plant is 3 months old. Smallest and slowest little bugger I've ever seen. ( The other next to him is about 3-4 days old but it's a seed that was planted maybe 4-5 months ago and just now decided to pop out. Don't have any clue what it is. )

how old are those plants. Looks like the perfect size to put out and still small enough to manage them inside. This year I'm going for 12 weeks inside then out. Last year I did the 8 week thing but they were a bit too small.

    When to pick a pepper

When I go to Mexico I always eat at the food carts it's dirt cheap (I save on food to drink more :)) and simply the best food in town. Almost no gringos there only the locals. The salsa they make is always with green habs. The ingredients is very simple; green (orange) habs, culantro, red...

Newspaper eh? hmm I don't think I like the idea of putting newspaper in my garden. So pine and cedar shaving will do. The cedar shaving should be brown? I guess the red stuff is colored and no good. I have a huge 12 feet high cedar bush for a fence in my backyard would the green cutting be any...
