    Grillcheese 2017

Wow. So here I am, coming out of hibernation. 7 months of fighting bugs and giving weekly soap baths to over 50 plants.   https://imgur.com/23qxxFc   Room was crowded...   https://imgur.com/Tz2gOuK   I tried to put the plants out as soon as I could. Mother Nature said no with an ice storm. Had...

    Grillcheese 2017

The cold weather has forced me to move indoors a little early. Wife let me take down a wall. The plants on the shelves were brought in about beginning of October. The plants on the floor were brought in on the 13th.    https://imgur.com/a/cHQXW   Every Wednesday I have been trying to take a...

    Grillcheese 2017

I started using milkshake straws to record the date of first pod, isolated, and crossed. Simple, but the earwigs like to hide in them. Saw it online somewhere. :) My Aji Verde was first to pod but last to redden (almost 90 days). I started using them this year and they are perfect. I can deal...

Grillcheese reporting in from Canada capital, Ottawa, zone 5b. Its been a real pleasure gaining info from numerous members here over the years. 10(?) years ago my sister gave me a paper lantern habanero plant as a housewarming gift. That was the hook. Red Savina was king. What a decade :) I'm...

How many plants can you manage?

I have 140 this year, was able to manage 200. But it does take time. Gets easier I think every year because of the lessons learned the previous year. I'm on my 10th year of peppers now with 40 varieties going.

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

I ate a ghost pepper as my personal initiation into the pepper world about 8 years ago. It was brutal hot. Grew it myself. My toes curled and I chugged about a gallon of milk. I did end up puking but the rush was worth it. Would I do it again? No. But i still love the burn of peppers :)

    vendor Pepper North, a.k.a. peppernorth.com

Just received my order from PepperNorth. A true pleasure doing business with him. I was looking for some specific seeds and he was honest in telling me that one type I was looking for was OP so wasn't willing to sell. SInce he is in Canada i will definitely do business again. I'm in Ottawa and...

2016 garden will you have more or less peppers ?

I had a horrible year this year with maybe 30 plants, 5-6 varieties surviving.  Bought the house we were renting so now I have ramped up production. Bought a sweet greenhouse/hoophouse  online and now have 150 seedlings popped in a spare room in the house, out of around 40 varieties..planning on...

I'm pretty stoked for all of mine..the ones that stand out though are 7 pod Bubblegum, Chocolate Moruga, Cinnamon Bell, and Caramel 7 pod and Reaper (i waited to see if the strain would stabalize). All those came from Pepperlover. I have a few seeds from previous years that were open pollinated...
