    The Howster's 2012 Season

As a result of a new job and very little time on my hands I've been unable to provide any updates. Fortunately I still found time to attend to the plants. Heres a few shots of todays harvest, will take some pics of the plants soon. Orange Habs: Aji Pineapple: Yellow Fatalii: Chocolate...

    container Yield Container vs Garden

There's too many variables across both situations and requirements from different individuals. If you take into consideration time and money, ground has to win. What costs more, loads of seeds to throw in the ground or a bunch of hydro setups. The ground is certainly more forgiving if you can't...

    Mankeli's chili plants in Finland

Good to see your having success in places I thought would be worse than the UK which comes with poor weather too. I think you probably have a similar time frame to put things outside, but in the UK we often get an Indian summer in September so can keep things producing until early October. Last...

    romy6 2012

You got some nice harvests going on. Out of curiosity, how do you grow your tomatoes? I've noticed on a few pics from different people that most seem to let them go bushy. In the UK I've always seen them grown as a long vine hanging off a string, with all side shoots trimmed off. I believe this...

SETHSQUATCH GROW BIG LOG WITH puny hammer

I'm liking the bamboo frame around those beds. What is it intended to keep out?

Mezo`s "super hots" Glog including the 'big' solar dehydrator.

Loving the solar dehydrator, very original thinking. I'm not sure if it would work in the UK but as I only have an oven to do my drying and will not part with my cash and power for a small electric dehydrator I may have to look into something similar.

    The Howster's 2012 Season

I'm in the same boat, these early starts are nearly ready for the ground but it will be mid May at the earliest, even with a greenhouse. One thing I've noticed about the Fatalii, the leaves although very chinense looking, are much smaller than I'm used to with other plants of this size. As with...

    AJs 2012 Season - A Pictorial Discussion

Straight for the placenta, crazy stuff. Nice to have pods already, can't wait for my first fresh ones this year.

    Pr0digal_sons not so Prodigal season.

Very nice looking plants. I occasionally get leaves with random holes or chunks missing, I think its just a deformity that occurs as they begin growing and nothing to worry about.

    The Howster's 2012 Season

Cheers fellas, this year is going much better than expected. Got a couple of extra plastic greenhouses, 5' tall and should hold 3 plants each, should help out a bit. I was chuffed with the seeds I received, Ive decided to give tomatoes a go this year, something I usually leave to my Dad. I've...

Acid Reflux Damage (New Guy Here)

I eat a fair amount of bell peppers in stir frys and the like. Despite knowing that red bell peppers contain the most vitamins they also have a stronger flavour and I've found give me an acid stomach if I have more than a little bit, such as a red pepper omelette. This is from someone with a...

    WHAT IS IT ? (2)

Last year 1 of my 3 bih jolokia plants produced lime green unripe pods before turning the deep red, compared with the other 2 which had deep green unripe pods. Mine were much more narly than those. I'd probably lean toward a naga morich, they can have smoother pods from experience, or maybe a...

    Which have the shortest season?

Good info Donnie. Did you find much difference between those chinense and baccatums, presumably the latter being a little shorter seasoned? Also how was the flavour comparison with the Limón and Beni Highlands, and the Lemon Drop, Aji Pineapple and Hot Lemon, anything discernible or...

    Which have the shortest season?

I'm thinking I'll give a few of the chinense a go and just see how I get on. Some of the Baccatums are Peruvian/Bolivian in origin so I assume they can take a bit of cold but no idea how long till production. I think the Goronong may also manage better in cooler temps but not sure. I've lived...
