    soil Soil Ph issue?

update. all the plants referenced in last post are thriving.  Using Neem oil as a prevention of broad mites must have worked.  I have not sprayed them in about two weeks and still no issues.  From now on, I will spray all my peppers for the first month or two after planting.  Thanks for all who...

Major screwup and lesson learned...what are these insects?

Since the first day i used neem, I never saw another aphid.  I do 1tbsp neem and 1 tsp castile soap per gallon of WARM water.  I treated twice per week initially, then one per week after that.  Works great for aphids.  It also seems to work well to reduce the leaf-eating worms on my basil and...

health What is wrong with my peppers?

they look very similar to mine, and I had broad mites.  you cannot see them with the naked eye.  However, I would still make sure it is not related to overwatering.  Make sure those pots a draining properly.  Here is a link to my thread to compare pics and see how Im dealing with them.  ...

    soil Soil Ph issue?

Hey guys, wanted to provide a quick update.  I ended up pulling all but one pepper plant, and that one is still stunted.  It may recover, but not counting on it.  I planted two more plants a couple weeks ago, and started spraying with a neem/soap mixture from day 1, about every 3 days.  One of...

Will do.  Hopefully I can revive these things.   :deadhorse:        Moving forward, would you recommend the Neem for mite prevention?

What invisible beastie is munching on my pepper plants???

Get some DE or some BT Spray.  Should get rid of those pests.  Those are much better than the broad mites im dealing with!!!

    soil Soil Ph issue?

I just bought some Doctor Zymes Eliminator for the mites.  Hopefully this will work :(   so depressing.   It is my understanding that the Neem should work to deter broad mites before they are a problem.       Link to Dr Zymes Product. ...

    soil Soil Ph issue?

Honestly Ive barely watered as it has been raining once or twice a week.  Assuming my PH of water is high, how should I counter balance that?     I do not see any mites.  Hopefully the neem oil applications will wipe these boogers out if that is the problem.

    soil Soil Ph issue?

Hey pepper gurus,    I want to get your thoughts on my issue.  I have jalapenos, Islander, and tabasco peppers, all with the same symptoms.  Deformed leaves, some discoloring, and flower drop.  I have kept a close eye on bugs, and have been treating with Neem oil weekly (or more if it rains)...

Blossom End Rot in Banana Peppers?

Blossom End Rot in Banana Peppers?

ya, I really dont think it is the water.  Like i said, all my other peppers and tomatoes (japs, habs, tabasco chilis) all look great.  I have a feeling it is the variety.  Probably should do a soil test to understand the PH among others.  Also, all plants are in 8-10in raised bed.

Blossom End Rot in Banana Peppers?

Thanks for the advice.  I run the soaker hose for an hour around 4am every other day.  Its pushing 100degrees so by the second day it needs water again.  I have grass clippings around all my plants for insulation.  Should I up it to 2 hours?  every other plant looks great, and its only the...

Blossom End Rot in Banana Peppers?

Hey guys,   Having a little trouble with this banana pepper.  I have only pulled a couple off this plant, and all of them have had this soft, brown spot that takes over the bottom of the pepper.  I thought it was BER, so ive treated with cal-mag last week.  It does not look like that worked.  It...

pests Aphids are ruining my fun.

I use strawberries as my decoy plant.  Aphids love it for some reason.  Also, if you have ants, it is very hard to get rid of the aphids.  Must control ants in order to control the aphids.  1:1 ratio of peanut butter, honey, and boric acid.  leave it in containers around your plants.  Worker...

Hot/Sweet Peppers for North Texas Climate (8a)

All,  I am new to growing with only one under my belt.  I love spicy, but looking for different types of peppers to grow.  Jalapenos and habs flourished in my garden.  Looking for something in the middle from a spicy perspective, but maybe also a little sweet to go with it.  any ideas?  Thank...

pests Ants & aphids, when to take action

These guys did a number on my plants before I noticed (my first grow, so I was not even aware of these pests).  You need to kill the source of the ants, the queen.  In my garden, it is not possible to find the mound.  I made a mixture of 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1 tbsp honey, and 1 tbsp boric acid...

Leaf or Bacterial Spot? Help needed!

Thanks for the replies.  The plants have pulled through, but my tomatoes are so big and not caged properly so they are stealing some sunlight from them now.  Not sure how much more they will produce.  My first grow, so next time I will be more prepared for this and buy some Texas Tomato Cages...
