That's awesome man, glad at least one made it. Looks like 3 of my original 5 are growing true. Here's a shot with 5 different bhuts. Caramels on the left, color definatly stands out!
Last year I was growing chocolate bhuts and one of the plants grew pods with the caramel color. I'm not sure if it's a cross or natural mutation. I sent seeds to quite a few people and a lot of them grew at least 1 true plant. Some reverted back to red. I do see a lot variability in pod shapes...
No problem. I received the peppers from Ed and he didn't impose any conditions on what I could or could not say / do or even ask me to review them, just sent me some peppers to do with as I please. I have no skin the game, from one hobby grower to masses I would just say it's damn hot pepper...
I've tried a few of the reapers and its up there with the hottest I have ever had...and I have had the butch t, moruga, brain, etc, etc.I think on any given day any one of these (plus a few others) could set a record.
Nice review Mega! I added your video to my reaper post: http://thepepperseed.com/peppers/the-carolina-reaper-aka-hp22b-pepper/
I took a pic of the pods I received too, check the link above link.
Thanks for the fascinating and informative addition to this thread. Anything else you're not buying today you would like to tell everyone about? Nice to see one of my pictures is getting good use as your avatar. That will be $15 please.
It looks like one of the plants I have going is showing some significant pod variation too. Not as much as yours but still present. I'm still waiting for pods on one and it may be another week or two before I see any of them ripening. Have at least one plant that looks like it will produce pods...
+1 and +1. The Jonah put me down last year...only pepper I have sampled that made me go for milk and have to take 10 minutes laying down to get it together. It doesn't get the attention some of the other 7 pots do but man it can rip you up!
Bhuts are looking nice this year. Hopefully you get a nice "round 2" later in the season :-) I'm growing some of your yellow bhuts this year, do you by chance recall where you got the seeds for them?
Great update and those giant red bhuts look nice. If they grow like mine you should get your best (and biggest) ones later in the season. I tried one of mine a few days ago and even though it's still green it was already really hot. I think the heat/stress this year on the plants may limit...
