pod Aji Limon plants not the same as producing different pods

Aji limo is what I wanted so I guess that is what the larger ones are so I will go with that.  Not sure about those smaller ones.  They grew that size on the plants not mixed with the larger ones.

pod Aji Limon plants not the same as producing different pods

I bought some Aji Limon seeds and have about 10 plants.  They all seemed to grow similarly and the pods all looked similar but at harvest time the plants produced peppers that were different in color and size.   I wonder if anyone can identify the three pepper varieties.   Some plants had small...

    Growing Wild Peppers

If I did not have these raised beds available, growing these would be out of the question.  What I really like about these chiltepins is the way they pop off the stem with ease when ripe.  Harvesting goes pretty quick when you don't need clippers :P

    Growing Wild Peppers

I also cloned an Amarillo Chiltepin and Pima Bajo Chiltepin this winter and planted 3 of each in one of my raised beds this spring.  They have grown large and fast.  This is the Pima Bajo mother plant.     The Pima Bajo Chiltepin clones...       The Amarillo Chiltepin clones...      ...

    Growing Wild Peppers

I haven't seen many posts in regard to growing Wiri Wiri Peppers, so I thought I would post my experience.  I was lucky enough in spring of '17 to get one of my Wiri Wiri seeds to sprout and make a beautiful potted plant (Top one in the large pot).   It had flowered a lot but did not produce...

    breeding Chiltepin cross

So doing some research I see that it is last years cross pollinating that would create the new type of chiltepin plant.  So as Austin67 points out I should expect the plant(s) to continue producing the same type of pepper.  In light of this it becomes somewhat easier to guess what the donor...

    breeding Chiltepin cross

I have 6 of them and they are all so far putting out the same pods.  I don't know that much about how crosses can occur, so that's why I don't know if the other flowers might have different "fathers" in their future and produce different peppers.  I have a lot of varieties planted all within a...

    breeding Chiltepin cross

I saved some seeds from my Rock Corral Canyon Chiltepin plants I grew last year.  I especially liked this particular type chiltepin because it was apparent that the size of the peppers were uniformly larger than those from my other chiltepin varieties.  I have a row of six of the plants that are...

    favorite Your favorite pepper variety

My favorite pepper to grow is the Chiltepin.  I grow many pepper varieties each season but always have one of my raised beds growing some type of tepin.  I use them for my tomato based salsa's.  They grow well in hot climates and never seem to be bothered by insects or disease.  I currently have...

I have 4 Mini-Rocoto's growing in other beds that I am somewhat concerned about.  They have something going on with some of the leaves that I can't seem to resolve.  None of my other pepper plants have this problem, only on the Mini-Rocoto's and a few of the leaves on my larger Rocoto pepper...

So my Red Rocoto's (rear) and Wiri Wiri's (front) are doing well as far as growth, but no fruit yet.  Lots of tiny flowers on the Wiri Wiri plants but none on the Rocoto's.  I think maybe Southern Utah is just too hot for growing the Rocoto pepper.  It's been around 100 degrees for the last few...

    Sugar Rush Peach Pepper...NOT

Hi Mitch, I only planted them 3 or 4 weeks before I started this thread.  So it wasn't so long of a wait.  I don't really care to grow this pepper, but since I have it growing up a fence on the end of a raised box, it is not taking up any room to speak of so I'll just leave it.  Good luck with...

    Sugar Rush Peach Pepper...NOT

I fail to see any degree of humor in  my unfortunate purchase but if it's that funny to you feel free to keep ROFL. Also, I would be happy to share where I purchased them.  They were from the Moab High School plant sale.

What kind of peppers are these?

I grow several varieties of Chiltepin.  Last year I grew some Hermosillo Chiltepin along with some other varieties.  The pods were hot and tasty but what I did not like was that the ripe pod does not easily come off when pulled.  It would take two hands to remove each pod of this variety.  If...
