A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

So I was supposed to do hot sauces on Friday, but just did some tomato sauces instead.  After work today I'll hit up the hot sauces.  Already separated all the peppers into their individual varieties.  Will deseed, then seperate into powder and sauce piles.  Just got a Ronco dehydrater on...

    fermenting OK second ferment attempt

I prefer pineapple to any other fruit additive as (to me) it seems to compliment the heat and is a good flavor next to the fruitiness of the pepper.  Gonna try some pineapple hab sauce tomorrow.  My first attempt at a ferment went horribly wrong.  Note:  citrus is good for fresh sauce, but after...

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

Time for an update.  I've got a freezer full of peppers and I think I'll be deseeding and saucing this Friday.  I need to pick up a dehydrator as well.  Anyone know what a decent useable one goes for at Wallyworld? Pickled all my Lemon cukes and was hoping for enough to make sliced pickles and...

heat How to make the hottest peppers - if you know a good plant geneticist

I think the race for spicier is relatively recent. Probably tha spicy pain was less desirable in the past.

heat How to make the hottest peppers - if you know a good plant geneticist

I'm no scientist, but I tried google and wikipedia to translate this (to me) garbledygook.  I'm sure there are mistakes, and I'm sure it's oversimplified, but I tried as much as I could to put this in layman's terms.  Corrections are always encouraged.    Everything in red is my attempt to...

    seeds starting seeds anyone?

I started mine in late January this year, and might go a little earlier next year for the supers.  We had as "mild" winter here last year, but too cold to leave stuff out, and not a lot of room to overwinter inside.  I predict with the amount of rain we had this summer, it will be a very snowy...

    THE NEXT BIG THING......

I didn't grow the parent of the plant, but I have been in talks with the person I got the seeds from to try to figure it out.  He doesn't think it crossed, but couldn't be 100%.  Either way, we'll see what happens with the F2s!

Keep an eye out for pics of your plants on the internet.  Cool return on the salsa!

    help I'd please

They look similar and grow similar to the Hungarian Wax I grew last year.  If they are, they will get longer.

One more note, I found my first brain strain ripening today.  With all the weird color combinations I've been getting I wouldn't be surprised if it ripened to blue.

    THE NEXT BIG THING......

I have 1 Jonah plant and every pod stayed bright Habanero orange.     Not a red one in the bunch.  I figured they would change eventually, but it just didn't happen.  Could it be environmental?

Holy Crap!  I went away for the weekend and when I came back, everything was still alive!  How could all my pepper plants survive without me looking at them for 36 hours?

    Friggin Squirrels!!!

I had a few corn stalks and them little bastards waited until the corn started coming up then destroyed everylast one.  If I could hunt in my neighborhood, I swear it would be squirrel armageddon in this joint.
