I have decided it's time to get serious about my fitness, so I went and purchased a new bike last weekend.

http://bicyclecentre.com/components/...bf2eea6ae4.jpg

It is a lot better to ride than my mountain bike is. I've been enjoying getting out on it in the afternoons.

The RRP of this bike from Strathpine Bicycle Centre was $1099, they said they could do it for $950. So I put it on lay-buy and went on my merry way.

Later that evening I decided to read up about them on the net. To see them being offered for $799 on the Strathpine Bicycle Centre website made me a little peeved. So I rang them the next day and spoke them and was told the price of $799 was correct.

I explained I'd lay-buyed one at a dearer price and was told they'd do it for $799. So I jumped in the car and went down and payed cash for it.

It's been a little tough getting back into cycling but it has been fun.

Ideally I would like to be cycling around 80 to 100km a week. That will take me a while though, haven't regularly cycled for around 27 years.

Good afternoon sir,

I asked my mom to order me some of your jerky a few weeks ago. It arrived about 3 days ago and was already gone yesterday. My buddies and I agree that it's the best jerky we've tasted! We also really appreciated the letter and doubling the order for no charge, that was
really great. As you asked, I attached 2 pictures of us enjoying your jerky, though I couldn't get them to crack a smile in the one, I hope
you don't mind, we are Marines. But rest assured those bags of jerky were gone in no time. Thank you again for your generosity and I will
look forward to getting much more of your jerky when I get back home to
Chicago. Take care.

EdsRoadHouseJerky is probably the finest jerky I have ever had, besides my own. I've had his Lil Sweet Jalapeno, Habanero Beef Jerky, which was very good. Heat, n flavor better than what is currently out there, retail. I ordered a bunch of that. Then Ed sent me a sample of the New Devils Tongue jerky, which also is a Jalapeno, Habanero jerky. Again great flavor, n more heat than before. Fantastic jerky. If you make your own, then you know how much work is involved to do so. This stuff is better than home made.

At work we are in the final stages on planning for our yearly audit on central Queensland. with the last restructure we now have one division called Coal. There is a lot of coal in Queensland and a lot of train line to check out for the hauling of coal.

This audit will be a 15 day trip with two weekends away from home. That makes it our longest audit this year. Still have south east Queensland and far north Queensland to do before the year ends.

It gets very dull in the evenings and weekends, much rather be home but this is the job I chose. :)

Now we are coming into autumn I look back at my first season of growing from seed. My efforts at raising chilli plants has been a little hit and miss so far this season. I've lost a fair few plants to over watering and neglect. As you would all know it takes a fair bit of time checking and watering so many plants. I still have more seeds to plant later this year including Nagas, Goatsweeds, Yellow Scotch Bonnets and White Habaneroes.

1 x Pequin
1 x Red Savina (grown from seed)
2 x Black Pearl
2 x Firecracker
2 x Inferno
3 x Serrano
5 x Diablo
5 x Congo Trinidad’s (grown from seed)
5 x Fatallis (grown from seed)
5 x Lemon Habanero (grown from seed)
7 x Kempsey Red (grown from seed)
7 x Asian Bird (grown from seed)
8 x Naga (grown from seed)
9 x Cayenne
9 x Baby Red Caps (grown from seed)
10 x Fatalli (grown from seed)
10 x Super Chilli (grown from seed)
14 x Paper Lanterns (grown from seed)
15 x African Birdseye (grown from seed)
16 x Orange Habernero
28 x Birdseye (22 grown from seed)

In the end though the more I can produce myself the less I need to rely on stores. It's all to my advantage in the sauce producing game.

edit: Also considering trying CF lights in my shed with some heat pads to keep my seedlings firing through winter.

Simply, I didn't check it one night (I usually check them every night), and then the NEXT night we didn't get home until after 3 AM, so I didn't check them then either. By the next night they'd dried out and a couple didn't pull through after a thorough watering...

Well I'm out in southwestern Queensland doing the district audit. So I'm relying on my work wireless connection which is ok. The downside is no access to email. Which is a bummer as I'm getting enquires about my sauces and replies to buying gear that I can't respond to.

Anyhow I was at a depot today and noticed to chilli bushes with a fair few pods on them. They told me to pick whatever I wanted as no there ate them. So I nearly picked them clean, they look to be a birdseye type of chilli. I might have to post some photos to confirm. I'm still a noob at knowing most types.

I'll be home for the weekend so we'll be making some sauces up to restock. Then out again doing audits the week after as well. Got an email today asking about doing an audit on the Western Australian rail operations. If that happen it'll be the week after next. Makes it hard to spend time with the family and make sauces. Too many things to do and not enough time. Oh well at least I'm gainfully employed.

This weekend, February 15th, I planted all my pepper seeds in a 72 cell pellet tray - bottom watered.

I set up my grow box from last year, got some new grow lights, etc.

I was hoping to start the plants in January, but 1. It just didn't happen, and 2. I believe last year all my plants dampened-off in the first round of germination. So it seemed like I started a little late in the game, because I had to replant in March.

If everyone survives, I'll be a month ahead of last year, so I'll be in good shape.

My one complaint is I didn't save any fatalii seeds to plant this year! And I have very few Bhut seeds, so hopefully my germination rate is ok.

The good news is I'm growing LOTS of new peppers that I'm very excited about, and I owe a HUGE thank you to Cappy (Pepperridgefarmer) for the Scorpions and 7-Pots.

I'm so excited about this selection! I'm growing a number of milder peppers this year, so the wife can actually enjoy some of them. In particular, I'm excited about the Golden Greeks (gonna try my hand at pickling!) and the Bulgarian Carrots.

The Carrots came from a supermarket in New Hampshire. There's some speculation they could be orange serrano's, but they don't really look right. Bulgarian Carrot was the closest thing I could find (the picture was a perfect match, and the "medium" heat level was also dead on). Regardless, whatever they actually are, they were some of the tastiest peppers I've ever had. We had them grilled over a fire every night of our vacation. I hope they grow, and I hope whoever took seeds from the parcel has good luck with them, and enjoys them as much as I did.
