Has anyone ever tried Pappy's Moonshine Maddness BBQ sauce?
The label says..."So friggin' hot you'll go blind!"
I really like the flavor, nice burn in the back of the throat, but I didn't
go blind!
Anyway, the reason I ask is I am looking for a nice recipe to start with to try and emulate this nice sauce, without adding sugar.
Anybody have any BBQ sauce recipes as a starting point without sugar?

No sugar... do you mean not sugar sugar or do you mean no sugars, as in no honey or molasses or other sugars???

Yes, I mean no sugar, honey, molasses, etc.
It might not be doable, but I am willing to experiment.
Well, its no wonder I didn't go blind, huh?
Eating it......what was I thinking?
Has anyone ever ran across a BBQ sauce recipe without sugar?
I keep looking, but unfortunately, I haven't come across one yet.
Thanks for any info.

Keep looking. Perhaps there is some funky enzyme or chemical that can be used, but I'm unaware of it.

I am terribly sorry, I didn't google for any recipes, I have been browsing through lots and lots of cookbooks. Thanks for the info, I will have to experiment now.

I expected to see cinnamon, it's has a bit of sweetness, and is not a sugar.

If it's dieting it's one thing. If it's diabetes it doesn't matter where the sugar comes from. Best culinary trick I know Is to use a combo starch-sweet veggie puree as a base. Usually the root veggies like beets, carrots, rutabaga. This is a trick for other sauces and I've never tried it for BBQ. But I am the mad scientist in the kitchen. I think I'll try a beet base sometime soon. BBBQ
and if it works I should not have posted it on a site populated by professional sauce sellers. hmmm.

As a matter of fact, I have tried this sauce. I like it personally, as does my wife. Nice heat. I didn't go blind, though....

Just checked out Pappy's and found they got a hotter bbq sauce called Pappy Hottest Ride in Town. Sounds good. Great label.

you can take any recipe and sub "Splenda" for sugar, they also make a "brown sugar" version. Splenda tastes the same as sugar so live a lil.
