TheHotPepper.com would like to run some fun contests. Prizes can be different hot sauces donated by members that make sauce.
In this thread, discuss what type of contests you would like to see, how you would like them judged, and whatever you can think of. This is the brainstorm stage, there is nothing set up as of yet.
Anyone wanting to judge or provide prizes PM me.
Thanks!

Y'know, I would love to present some twisted ideas, but I feel as if I would be scolded.

A digital scavenger hut. instead of items you send pictures. the catagories should range from specifics like "red savina" to general like "hot food".
been toying with this idea for awhile for another purpose.

Hmmm, not sure about that. I was thinking more like food related contests.
Example:
All members post hot wings recipes. The 3 best sounding ones (possibly determined by a forum poll) move to the semi-finals. Five judges prepare all three recipes and judge with a scorecard. Scorecards are sent to the admin. The winner is determined.
Something like that.

The pic of the cat is tooo funny! It's also the first time that I've ever seen a cat get a bath. I've always thought that they licked themselves clean.
Anyway, some sort of contest would be fun. Of course I'm currently brain dead, so I'll have to drink a few brewskies and think about this. Cheers!

As for the name that hot sauce, that would be hard to do, fun, but hard...

How about name that maker. Have the producer come up with a disguise, with subtle hints. With the creativity of the chili-heads, I'd imagine it would be funny as Hell.

Now you're just being silly.
Name the maker could be good. Except that you'd need more clues than just a photo for a lot of makers... Most of them don't have their pics on their sites, etc.

We'd also need releases from people to post their photographs... So we couldn't simply do a name that maker using Cajohn's photo, without his permission.

Ugh, you're killin' me. If a maker supplied a website a pic, hasn't he/she already given permission? As for guessing who it is, subtle hints within the pic would help.

Nope, copyright laws instantly apply to the picture once it has been "published". So therefore you must ask permission to use the copyright protected picture.

Exactly. Cripes, ever since the whiny 90's, the creation of the "sue everyone"/Politically Correct ideology, the fun has been sucked out of a lot of things. I'll post a pic, and don't give a crap about the copyrights.

You won't be saying that when some professional photo seller sends you an invoice for $3200 for having used their copyrighted photograph.

Next Spring, why not have a pepper growing contest like Mark's at www.thechileman.org
I think I'm the only North American in the contest this year. Who can grow the largest Whippet's tail pepper or Big Jim or something entirely different. How about who can grow the ugliest pepper, I know some fairs have ugly veggy contests.

How about growing the longest Peter Pepper?!?!?

Would it interest anyone to create their own contests? I could create a contest forum, and people could give away sauces. I would think this would be good for sauce makers to get their product to some new customers. Yes, no?

I think a food trivia question type contest would be fun.
Someone (anyone) would ask a food related trivia question, (the admin would need to be notified of the answer before the question could be posted) and the first to answer it correctly, duh, wins. But here's the twist, not only does the winner get a prize from the person asking the question, but the winner would be required to send the question asker some type of prize as well. I think that this would offer a fair playing field. Only food related prizes, and keep it to lets say under $10.00US, not including shipping.
I'm almost asleep, so I hope this makes sense, and it's just an idea.
