There's some recent medical research about the use of capsaicin in cancer treatment. Those links lead to abstracts of the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) discussing the effects. But you might have to be a real chilihead to have benefit: they used capsaicin in tests with mice and other animals. To slow down the growth and minimize the size of a prostatic cancer a 100 kg man would (calculatively) have to eat 400 mg capsaicin or 36 Mexican pepper pods (not precised) at least three days a week...

Armadillo...I have read about this in the past but never really got how much capsaicin you would have to eat to keep the level up in your system...this is good information....400 mg, 36 mexican chilis three times a week..hmmmm, wonder what kind of chiles these were...if they were jalapenos, figuring a superhot is 200 times the strength of a jap, you could eat two superhots a week?...I probably eat 30 grams of the superhots each week...

this is actually one reason I have started eating peppers with each meal...

You could save some space for pumpkin plants and chew some pumpkin seeds in the evening while watching TV. The Chinese do and have a lower rate of prostatic cancer. So combined with chilis that might do the job.

If going to bed at 8 is your daily routine, it's surprising that you manage to stay up to play a gig. :) Well, music works wonders...

It's always good to keep up hope. And maybe capsaicin will help. But it for sure won't heal alone. Maybe it's one more stone in the mosaic. Even that would be a big step.

I was reading over this thread again. A lot of substances in pharmacology are derivatives of the originally found substance. Maybe they will develop some capsaicin derivate applicable as a pill and without the heat. There are lots of patients who aren't chiliheads. To feed them with a dozen of habs a week or some dozens of jalapenos might be impossible.

Would definitely have to be without the heat because a concentrated capsicum pill dissolving in the stomach would not be a good thing to most of us (IGG and THSC excluded).

You have to eat one of these today! Miiissssstttteeerrrrrr Jonessssssssss

All kidding aside, I'll bet every Pharmaceutical company in the world is working on a version of capsicum introduction.

Thanks for the links!
