Whenever Kentucky is on the national news, it raises my blood pressure.
This is not meant politically, hopefully people on both sides of the fence are horrified by incredibly stupid acts that deepen racial divides.

Actually, a lot of racists are FOR him:
http://www.esquire.com/the-side/feature/racists-support-obama-061308
Choice quotes from these clowns:
Tom Metzger, Director, White Aryan Resistance:
"See, I’m a leftist. I’m not a rightist. I hate the transnational corporations far more than any black person."
Ron Edwards: Imperial Wizard, Imperial Klans of America:
"But I’m going Republican and I talked to my guys and most of them are voting for McCain too."
Erich Gliebe, Chairman, National Alliance:
"Perhaps the best thing for the white race is to have a black president. My only problem with Obama is perhaps he’s not black enough."
Rocky Suhayda, Chairman, American Nazi Party:
"White people are faced with either a negro or a total nutter who happens to have a pale face. Personally I’d prefer the negro."
Meanwhile, the Black Supremist is sad:
Yahanna, General, Israelite School Of Universal Practical Knowledge:
"Finding out Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee for president was one of the saddest days in black history. Another legacy of black death is about to begin, just like it began back in the '60s with probably the greatest traitor to black people in modern-day history, Martin Luther King."
Anyone wanna be the one to tell your Imperial Wizard "sorry, dude. I'm voting for the black guy"???

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson 3rd president of the US (1743-1826), Letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin (1802)
Thomas Jefferson was right; he was right when in 1863/64 US agricultural loans were called in at the behest of the Rothschild bankers in London, he was right in the panic of 1906, he was right in the agricultural crisis of 1920/21, he was right in the Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression of the early 1930's and he's right today. However, not even he could foresee that it is not just the people of the US that are slaves to private banking interests but all the peoples of the world.

The only theory I can offer Dick,(as a white guy) is something I heard on NPR. An african american man was commenting that some black people may be comfortable claiming that "the man" is keeping them down.
If a black man is the president of the united states, they may be uncomfortable with the fact that "the man" is now one of them.
Or someone who believes that black people should hold onto their african heritage rather than becoming equal americans, may feel that MLK Jr or Barak are traitors.
hey we`ve got a gov that doesn`t care. This has got to be the biggest joke I can remember for an election.Black or female ,,,please make a difference no bs or sh#t.God help us when our gov is done.

The real problem is that some see this as a "Black-White-Male-Female" election.
Here's a clue for those who do:
IT ISN'T
If you think it is, then you're education and civil knowledge is that of a person from a half century ago. Ignorance, sexism and racism isn't something that should be flaunted. People with those pathetic traits should learn to keep their ignorant mouths shut, but seldom do.
I don't give a rats ass what damned color or sex any of the people in this election are, and neither should any educated, reasonable, thinking person.
Anyone who has justified their personal racism or sexism with a vote is nothing short of a jackass. I couldn't care less what you think if that type of thinking is how you run your life and how you're trying to shape MY thinking.
I'm not be idealistic. I'm being a realist. Anyone with a half of a mind knows that White/Black/Male/Female isn't what this is really about. It's about who is going to be at the top of the government of the United States of America.
If you're one of the sexist and/or racist people who insist on airing your prejudice in public, then know this; you're a fool, a bigot and have no business being in a reasonable group of people who have their minds on.
If you're one of the sexist and/or racist people who think that it's ok for you to think the way you do, then I suggest that you go find a good, solid teacher at about the Kindergarten level to educate you in just why you're so wrong.
Let's keep the bullshit off this group. This is a Hot Pepper group, not some dark, redneck bar room full of ignorant hillbillies that can't learn new concepts.
Let's turn our brains back on.
For those of you that have your brains on, I'm sorry that this had to be said.
For those of you that still hold racism and sexism as your way of life, I feel very sorry for you and your children.

Let me make it clear. For me this election is not about the race or the gender. But if the "biggest democracy in the world" would have had a Maggie Thatcher or a Benazir Bhutto or a Indira Ghandi or a Angela Merkel before, if it would have had an African American, a Latino, an Asian, a Hawaiian or a Native American president before that freaky sexist racist debate would already be over by now.
But talking about the persons. Experience in foreign policy. Who has experience? The one who has grown up in foreign countries, who has foreign ancestors, who knows the cultures? Or the one who has seen one foreign country in war not peace, who has been shot at, captured, tortured? Does one want somebody who understands foreign people and can negotiate or someone who sees foreign people as enemies, assassins, threat he has to fight? A leader should be unprejudiced. Here in Germany we have a health minister who is hating physicians and a minister of the interior who has been shot paraplegic by an assassin and never lost his posttraumatic stress disorder. He would without hesitating sacrifice any civil right for a minimum of security improvement. Now imagine someone like him with a finger on the nuke trigger.
Why do I as a German comment on American affairs? Because it influences the whole world. And because my six year old son is an American citizen and this election will offer or destroy chances for him.

If I understand you correctly, Armadillo, you're saying that Obama has all this ability to negotiate with "Foreign" countries on the level of a diplomat? From what precise government diplomatic experiences of Obama's did he learn anything that would assist him in top level International negotiations?
John McCain has decades of learning behind him. He's been dealing with Foreign diplomats since Obama was in his last few grade levels in what we in the USA refer to as "High School". You paint a picture of Obama as a worldly person. Give me exact circumstances in which he has done anything in any way that was at a world sized level of negotiations or diplomacy, please.
Where in the world did you get such an incorrect view of McCain? You make him sound like a Nazi. "Looking at every Foreigner as an enemy", "Has only wartime experience", that's bull, man. You need to study his entire record, (as you obviously haven't), before you talk about how little he knows as compared to Obama.
On November 5th, the USA will wake to a new "President Elect". In this last week, it's been obvious to anyone who has looked at the entire forest, and not just selective trees within that forest, that this Presidential race is far from over. With the scope of interest that this election has sparked, with the world events that are so explosive in nature and the radical differences between the two major players being so patently obvious to all who will be affected both within the USA and throughout the entire world, the outcome of this election will strongly affect the whole civilized world.
I've spoken to people this election that have never voted in their entire lives, that know more about today's current events and how each candidate says they will handle them or shape them, than at any time in my life. It astounds me how many people in the USA are seriously involved with learning and voting this time.
It'll be very interesting to see what the final numbers are after this election. I have the feeling that the popular vote will surpass that of many, many elections. How far? Who knows. We'll see in a few more days.
Frankly, in all of what I've learned about Obama, I see no experience in anything that makes him a wise choice for the most powerful office in the USA, and as leader of the only real Super Power on the planet. Again, frankly, that scares the shit out of me. "Change", that's all I'm hearing that has any history of effort behind it. It's a word, not an action. He's "changed" nothing. Ever.
The State that Obama has been a senior leader in and the Major city that he calls home are rampant with environmental problems, crime is larger than ever before and the economy is in hock to it's eyebrows. He hasn't changed what he's already in charge of at a little bitty state level. Now he wants to do nothing again at a Federal level? Or, if he does do something, he'll do so with no track record of success in anything in politics, environment or government economy. Again, his lack of any historical success or even full involvement in any successful "Change" in government policy or practice scare me in what they DON'T say.
You may know a lot about European government and could with no doubt tell me 95% more than I know now about the subject, but I, in turn, could do so with the USA. What you've suggested is nothing short of an emotional parroting of liberal mumbo-jumbo that doesn't hold water any better than a submarine with screen doors holds air.
Please, don't misinterpret this as any sort of an attack. I certainly don't mean it in that manner.
As you have, I'm just making my own opinion known.
After this election, whichever candidate wins, the proverbial shit is going to hit the fan. Emotions will run high. MAJOR changes are coming.
It's going to be an interesting time of history.
Good luck to you man, and no hard feelings. This is a friendly discussion.
Nat.

I grew up in a democracy as you did so answering and telling your opinion doesn't attack me at all. That you and me can exchange our opinions without anybody arresting us afterwards is an achievement of democracy and of civil rights in both of our countries. And the US had a big influence on Germany developing a democracy after WW II even if our democratic structures are a bit different. And both countries will still be democracies after the upcoming elections (we will vote next year) no matter if you or me like the outcome of the elections.
I heard a lot of the speeches and announcements the both candidates made in the last weeks and months. I heard the debates. From McCain and his crew I only heard below-the-belt attacks but nothing constructive. I never heard Obama climb down to that level and pay back with same coin.
I also read about the background of both candidates. McCain was in the House of Representatives since 1982 and is in the Senate since 1986. Barak Obama is a graduate of Harvard Law School. He practiced as an attorney. He was in the Illinois Senat since 1997 and is in the Senate since 2004. Both voted for and against laws and I'm sure any of these votes could be seen from different angles.
One of McCains favorite points is the question of judgement. He claims to have the better judgment and then choses a person as running mate who is suspicious to have used her influence for a private revenge. I don't know if this will be seen chargeable in the US but for my European view it's misuse of power which is a close sibling to corruption. Well, great judgment to chose her.

The abuse of power issue is a non issue, she did nothing wrong, The trooper tazed a 10 year old, shot a moose with a handgun and was drinking in his patrol car. 1st two he admits to. Armadillo, here are the points you made in your last post to me after I asked you to tell me what Obama has done to make him eligible to be the President of the USA and commander in chief of the USA's military strength:
1. Obama hasn't made negative ads against McCain.
2. Obama is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
3. Obama practiced as an attorney.
4. Obama was in the Illinois Senate since 1997.
5. Obama has been in the US Senate since 2004.
6. Obama has voted for and against laws.
*****
You see, this is the campaign that Obama has run. He keeps saying a lot of words, but those words don't really say anything about his ability to run the USA.
He mentions "Change". Change from specifically what, into what?
Everyone who is voting for Obama is doing so because they are pissed at George W. Bush. NOT because Obama will make a better President, but because they're angry about George W. Bush.
My question is still:
What makes Obama more able in ability than McCain to run the country?
Specifically. What will be the advantages of an Obama Presidency?

are you serious ?
those towers were built ? in the 20's-50's ? when technology wasnt at the top, & the materials were not under as strict regulations as compared to nowadays, PLUS it was not designed to take a hit like that.
get real dude!
as for the almighty dollar yep you betcha! its what has made the usa one of the top dogs of the world right now. but letsa not forget other countries are also playing this game of chess when it comes to the almighty dollar selling certain items or buying & trading, or making ties with another country to get what they want.
just like russia making tighter alliance with cheevez that could cut the usa oil supply.
or even while russia supplies certain countries with arms that attack the usa, but no way in hell would usa take on russia cuz that'd be the start of mother of all wars, instead we skirt around the edges & take care of biz.

proven!
how about all those people that have died that had ties with the Klitons ?
for the usa the war on terror started back in ? something like the 60's or early 70's. check the history as to when terrorist have attacked the usa or its citizens.
oil is NEEDED to run any country!! its that simple & every country is gonna make sure they have a supply or they'll have to pay top dollar to get it!
I suppose you could thank the democraps for not letting the usa drill new wells & start this iraq war because we in the usa have PLENTY of oil to substain the usa for many years BUT we cant drill OR the usa is waiting until the middle east oil runs low & then tap our oil & pump the rest of the countries that need oil for a huge profit ?
It was designed to take that type of attack..and it was designed well....they were designed right for the times the inner core was indestructable..the fault was all the asbestous....they were ordered a few times to clean it out....im a poor man I can just imagine the cost...so he got a llong term lease and by some coincidence got terrorist insurance just before every thinng happened..the twins were white elephants fulkl of abastos..now everyone is breathing it

all you have is conspiracy theories! aint no different with anything else major that happens.
why were those people let on the plane ? laws at the time.
do you really think the pres of the usa was behind blowing up the towers ? you are smoking crack! that shit wouldnt stay hushed!
just like allowing the japs to blow up pearl harbor, which led the usa into a major war & THOUSANDS of deaths of ctizens & soldiers.

conspire
c.1300, from O.Fr. conspirer, from L. conspirare "to agree, unite, plot," lit. "to breathe together," from com- "together" + spirare "to breathe" (see spirit). Conspiracy is from 1386; conspiracy theory is from 1909.

No matter what your political convictions are this is an eye
opener....What a thankless people we are!!!
David Letterman, on President Bush. (Surprising)
David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....
'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever
been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it
seems to hit the mark.'
'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some
Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the
source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with
the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is
unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the
citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle
dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'
A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7
Days a week?
B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the
summer and heating in the winter?
C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and
see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific
Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification
papers as we move through each state.
F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along
the way that can provide temporary shelter?
G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from
around the world is just not good enough either.
H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up
and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you
to the hospital.
I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.
J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire,
a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch
equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and
your belongings.
K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a
burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a
bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack
or loss.
L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias
raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of
teenagers own cell phones and computers.
M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we
enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?
Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world
has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great
disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed
people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't
have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good
Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no
plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval
rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark
days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of
recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in
the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe
from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army
that is out there defending you and me?
Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this
news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look
around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about
it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you
personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to
kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.
Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have
volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom.
There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.
They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a
''general''
discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case
scenario,
a ''dishonorable' discharge after a few days in the brig.
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of
Americans?
Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads
and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with
blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner?
The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They
offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by
'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to
allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't
kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!
Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the
bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a
country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the
most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day,
or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados,
fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing
up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu
and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out
of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
-David Letterman

Thanks gardenkiller, your post has said exactly what I was thinking.
When the rest of the world thinks of Whiny, self-centered, spoiled citizens of a country, they think of the people of the USA.
Ask anyone, from any other country on this entire planet which country has the most Whiny, self-centered, spoiled citizens, and they will say the USA every time.
I've lived all over the world. I've seen exactly how true this is.
G. W. Bush wasn't the problem. He's the result of the real problem.
APATHY.
IGNORANCE
UNJUSTIFIED PREJUDICE
LACK OF EDUCATION
Those are the real problems in the USA.
Before attacking the leaders, look in the mirror and see if you have any of these problems.
If you do, then fix yourself first.

It was designed to take that type of attack..and it was designed well....
designed well, correct. but designed to take 2 hits from airplanes & then the planes blowing up!
NO they were not designed for that!
they were designed right for the times the inner core was indestructable..
in theory! you ever heard of metal stress ? shit happens & with 2 planes flying into the towers, blowing up & the jet fuel burning (which burns a tad hotter than your Bic lighter ;)), would add some serious stress on the metal frame of the towers.
should MN also blame pres bush for the I35 bridge collapse ? from metal stress!
the fault was all the asbestous.....
how do you figure ? asbestos is fire proof, but bad for your health.
.they were ordered a few times to clean it out..
its a private building & corp. the gov't gives aid to help clean up asbestos (which is all over the usa & in many buildings not just the twin towers!)
but if the company doesnt clean it up its not the gov't fault!
thats like say its pres bush's fault for new orleans not using the federal aid to strengthing the levees & not having the citizens leave the area before the hurricane hit. I'll let you in on a little serect ;) katrina is 100% new orleans & LA gov't fault!!! for not evacuating the citizens in time & not beefing up their levees & having disaster plan in place, let alone living in a F'ed location that should of never been built on!

canuk - lets blame ex pres Klinton for the oklahoma city bombing while we're in the blaming mode ;) you could also throw the FBI in there for shits & giggles.
hell you could also blame Klinton for those usa embassy bombings in the other parts of the world while he was in office. & like said earlier about the china embassy in kosovo which usa bombed.

Jesus christ where was osama when the sh@t went down..He was in a us millitary hospital bush and family flew him home and bush was reading books to kids lol well trying...thatwould make you go hmmmmm once
missed this, wheres your proof ?
I highly doubt he was in a usa military hospital when 9-11-01 happened. maybe years before this when he might of been friends of usa. no different with iraq when usa supplied iraq/saddam with arms to fight iran & even gain power of his own country.
times change & people change, then saddam was no longer a friend to usa, then we hunted him down like the dog he was
talas - I respect canuks view & think he's a good person, doesnt mean I cant disagree with him.
to say its the presidents fault for this or that is wrong.
we have a 3 legged system - house of rep's, senate, president. all have equal power but still must go through the system for actions to happen. so I guess you can blame every senator from which state that voted for war against iraq, let me see the total might be along the lines of ? 40 senators that voted for war (just guessing or it could be the house ? I forget) but our president cant just declare war by himself!
the president is just a standing figure & fall guy, just like you might blame the QB for loosing the football game. everyone is involved not just 1 person.
heres anther point, everyone complains about job loss in the usa & going to mexico or elsewhere, & then complain its the republicans fault.
heres a news flash, it was Klinton that signed the NAFTA agreement & help set forth those laws/rules, so thank him what our country is dealing with now ;) even his evil wife (hillary Klinton) said NAFTA needs to be overhauled & changed cuz usa is getting the shaft.
