When I was at Elmendorf, I remember them test firing an A-10, I believe this is the firing range up there. For those who don't know, This plane was built around the gun it carries. It can only carry 17 seconds of ammo. It's a real crowd pleaser. see vid

That would have to one of the coolest guns made, have you seen this one, can fire 1 million rounds/min (not that it can actually carry that many rounds, it's fire by electrical impulses. I love guns :)

Elmendorf's range is huge. It's the Pacific Alaska Range Complex which is also used by Eielson as well. When i was there the Armée de l'Air(French Air Force) was using the range because there is no place in France big enough to do live fire training with BVR missles. It was pretty cool seeing a shitload of Mirages on the flightline. I asked my buddy how big that range really is and he said it was around like 60,000 plus square miles of airspace:shocked:

Thats the actual sound of the hydraulic cannon firing....it fires so fast the individual blast sounds become a blur.

Classic , loved the sound track on that one. I would love to see one of those test, well from a safe distance. Very scary
