That is awesome. How strong are their webs, to be able to catch a bird, wow.

the Golden Orb spiders are pretty strong - I've read where if it were as thick as a tennis net it would stop a fighter jet.

Mother of all things unholy -- I dont think I would leave my house if I saw that -- imagine going out for the newspaper and catching the web across your face **shivers**

Ask Grafcore, there are other bird eater spiders in the world as well. The one that usually comes to mind(to me anyways) is the Goliath tarantula thats claimed to be as big as a dinner plate. But it doesnt spin a web. It ambushes it's prey.

But at least i don't have to walk outside my house and see these things either.

I'd expect some pretty large spiders to crawl around in Florida due to the climate etc... Am I wrong?

You get some really good sized wolf spiders and some decent sized orb weavers(black and yellow garden spiders)here but i havent seen any of them snag a bird yet. They're just not big enough(yet)

I've always been thankful that bumble bees aren't the size of watermelons, but that is truly an amazing pic. I've never heard of a spider web strong enough to snag a bird. Bent, have you ever seen one of these spiders. Somebody call Patrick............

Amazing critter! Spiders are fantastic. Some biotechnologists try to develop artificial spiderwebs for bulletproof vests and other strong textiles.

That's why I use Loreal conditioner. Much stronger than classical conditioners and it leaves my hair shiney and clean.

Well they used to. But then they started snaring fighter jets and just gave up.

Apparently a jet is just too much trouble to peel to get to the tasty bits inside.
