Dude, what kind of volume are you tying at? As a former pro fishing guide in Alaska for 12 years, I gotta tell ya', the guides and lodge owners don't buy off of the fleabay. I would recommend catering to the lodges and other hardcore fishheads. If you can tie 5,000 flies over the winter, you should have a shot.
Good luck and cheers, TB.

I hear ya IGG. I guess I am lucky because I have a full-time job, but...it sucks and I have been looking for a new one and am not getting any call backs.
HPFF sorry to hear about the fly business. Hopefully things will pick up.

T.B. I worked in a fly shop here for 7 years,I know alot of the shop owners here in Michigan and most have their shop guys tie in the winter or some even go overseas.I tie mostly for going direct to the average guy who wants a doz or 2.I would get less per doz (I can tie 1000's in a month but its no fun that way ) if I went to a shop.
Paul I thought about seeds but too many problems possible that way
Talas grow more?? I am already in too deep
Omri its bad all over it seems.
IGG its the same here
Josh ty I hope it picks up I was doing good up until around May then Poof died off

HPFF, that's no good mate. I hope things turn around. Of all the fishing I have done (limited, mostly sitting in a boat fishing cans from an esky/cooler), fly fishing in the Canadian Rockies was my favourite. I can see its appeal, particularly good for getting away from the hustle and bustle.

I think the important words to note in the paragraph above the video box are "creating and sustaining a panic atmosphere".
A populace living in fear is much easier to control. Doesn't matter how the fear is created.
I agree the economic crisis is real, and it's gonna be bad, but I think the question we need to ask globally is what can be done to fix it. Luckily(?) it hasnt hit here yet, but job ads in the last quarter are down, anecdotally there has been a marked decrease in large h/hold purchases (cars, renovations, etc), graduate recruitment from universities is drying up and lots of ppl I know are now worrying about job security.
I dont wish to weigh into the politics of it all, but both the UK and the US bailouts, and to a smaller extent the Australian one as well, are obcene in the amount of money they are pumping into the financial system and regardless of which side is/was in power, a similar thing would have been done as western economies are now based on consumerism as opposed to humans simply surviving. I prefer consumerism. I'd rather worry about (e.g.) getting a new TV or computer as opposed to worrying about how to get enough to eat.
I understand the bias of the source, but these may be worth viewing. This is from "socialistworker.org"

And this is a link to a similar article from the UK version:

Puts things in perspective eh?

The thing to do is to think and rationalize through this and try and look as much information as possible..The problem with that over the last forty years that information has been going into a tighter pipe as many news and television organizations are now owned by fewer and fewer company's and off course is open to manipulation towards lots of ends.
Panic theres lots about but we can turn that around into knowledge and anger and unity and if..People should make there own minds up and believe nothing and at all times be open..Because we are constantly bombarded with information,How to live our lives and what we should do with them and this credit crunch..nice how there is term to explain a situation unforseen. The amount of money our govermants have been playing with is staggering and understanding money,it flow around,Who controls it and what happened to the world after the last Depression is an interesting study initself
As many have said `Dont Panic` :)

OK, the question is:
"What is the answer to life, death, the universe and everything?"
The reference is to "the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
If you ever get a chance to either listen to the original 'tape' version of the book or the watch the BBC miniseries, it is well worth it ... if you like English wit
[[READ "WIT" not necessarily humour, but it is quite funny all the same]]
Watch out for the mice! And their lacky Slarty Bardfast, he did the fjords in Norway, did you know?

yeah. I read the book and saw the movie(a long time ago). But if memory serves me(and not too well apparently) wasnt there an issue with the question? Isnt that why a new computer was being built to handle the question?
