Well, a bird came into the store yesturday and he's still flying into the windows in here desperatly trying to get out. Not a very smart little guy, but his foot's hurt and he's scared. Poor guy.
This is the second bird in a few days to arrive here. I neamed the first one Fred. This is is a bird named Sue.

I bet he's a bit stunned too, I've seen plenty fly into windows and lie on the floor like they're in God's waiting room then fly off again 20 minutes later. BTW you can't name a bird Sue  that's not a 'bird' name.

That's true! It's not a bird's name. It's a boy's name. Tough guy Johnny Cash told us so!

theres some birds around here that are smart enough to open the doors for themselves. no joke!
they learned that they need to fly by the sensors to activate the doors, & no shit they flew in & out of the building by activating the sensors. & yes it was caught on video, in fact news video, because someone called it in to them.
some animals are not as dumb as you think.

No I used to love that song so much and played it on repeat until I annoyed everyone. Her lyrics arn't easy to get anyway, Turn Out The Light was near impossible in places to understand.

On another note, that passenger chick is pretty damn righteous looking.

Yes, good observation Sick, I noticed that also, she looks like someone in Hollywood but I just can't put my finger on her, or in her. I try and think real hard, maybe that will work.

Absolutely a beautiful piece Aero- engineering, can't wait to see one live. Is there a restraint version for carriers or will they just use the VTOL. I wish everyone could know what it takes to bring something like this to life. Nice shot, Thanks AJ I'm going to find a pic from my B1-B days.

Both, actually. Depending on the end user, of course. I believe they'll be STOL, and VTOL versions and have arresting gear as well.

This is the Convetnional Take Off/Landing (CTOL) version for the Air Force, there is a Short Take Off/Vertical Landing (STOVL) model for the UK and US Marines, and a Carrier Variant, that has a larger wing, heavier duty airframe and landing gear, with a tail hook of course, and larger flight control surfaces for slow speed approaches during high alpha...

I thought the CTOL would also have STOL capabilities as well.

RB...I'll try to find you one and since this one is new, if I don't find one for you, I will send you this one....deal?
some people don't really realize how long it takes to get a brand new airframe into the air...much less getting it into production...this concept has been worked on for about 15 years...

Thanks RB...but you gotta know, since I started designing them and building them...I hate to fly...I had rather drive or take a train...
not afraid...just knowing that mishaps happen and I have flown many many a mile...now I choose not to travel by air...if I ever go down under to visit my mates down there, I may just take a couple of months and go by boat...

I remember from before that you said you hated flying because I asked about the turbulence question, you know, 'What are the chances of the plane falling out of the sky to the ground because of it?' and you reassured me about it. You did with the clonking noises that the plane makes when taking off too. I love landing, well kind of, I'm safe then.
AlabamaJack
10-17-2008, 02:45 PM
it is all a game of odds RB...the less you fly the less chance there is of a mishap...I think the acceptable level of a class one mishap is 1 in a billion flight hours...
