out of curiousity, what's everyone else paying for gas nowadays ?

1 gallon = 3.785 liters

here its around $3.87 - $3.95 a gallon (right now & just 87 octane)

rabbit

$4.09 a gallon here. It was a little more last week. I don't travel as far very frequently due to it. Kind of sucks when your grocery bills, and everything else goes up due to it as well. Just one more reason to become self sufficient down the road. I just need the land for that;):)

I hear ya!
what sucks is everything is going up BUT wages to compensate for oil prices.

DevilDuck

I just paid $3.75 for 86 (yes, 86) octane and that was a deal.

Normally between $3.87 and $3.88.

EDIT--

Here's high and low here.

What makes it even worse is not only are the oil prices going up but inflation is hitting it at the same time. Man.........talk about getting shafted:shocked:.........Then again that's what happens when a private bank is allowed to issue gov't currency without anything to actually back it. Oddly the ONLY thing that somewhat backs the dollar is petroeum, but that obviously isn't doing so hot now either is it...lol!!

Around $1.49 litre here

thats $5.63 gal

with the conversion 1 au$ = us$0.94

comes to $5.29 gal

...& thats 2cents a litre off for 10% ethanol

£1.18 (average) per litre, so that must be around $2.30-40 a litre. That's for unleaded petrol, diesel is more expensive.

£1.25 a litre (unleaded) in wales/North and £1.13 a litre in the midlands..just crazy crazy prices..and on mere speculation

In the Sun newspaper today they were comparing the costs of running a car and having horses with a carriage, a bit bizarre I know considering the speed a horse would do and other setbacks with it but obviously the horses were a lot cheaper. How great would it be to ride a horse to work? (a horse, not a my little Pony), you can't ride Rainbowberry.

Some kid was doing just that in Kentucky or Tennessee(riding his horse to school and to work and such) and they finally found a way to bust him for it. They got him for littering because of the road apples.

thats simple for everyone.
if ya want to compare prices from gallons to liters, divide our gallon prices with 3.785 (liters in 1 gallon)
or if we'd want to compare your liter prices to our gallon prices, we'd just times your liter prices with 3.785.

& it seems like USA is a little cheaper. but I wonder if your prices are higher taxed for other needs/programs other than transportion projects ?

4.35 for regular unleaded 4.45 for medium grade and 4.55-4.75 for super premo and over 5 for diesel -- Last I heard we were second to California the Governer is staving the tax increase in July we'll just see how they get revenue now

But get a flask holder fixed on it first if it's a long journey.

We have car share schemes going on in the UK, and if you don't know of one at your work place you go on a site and find one in your area.

They've got really crappy mass transit here, but there is a decent carpooling system available here. But as i only live 4 miles from my job and i enjoy occasionally getting off my ass and getting outside, i ride in.

As a plus, it's faster to bike to work than driving because of the traffic here.

In Guatemala around US$4.65 a gallon. And over here you have to use your car. Using public transportation is like playing russian roulette. And riding a bike is out of the question. Tons of motorcycles on the street, though. I have been hit by a car twice in my life so that was it for me and motorcycles. Guess I have to suck it up...

What gets me is that there is no oil shortage, it's just a bunch of people speculating on prices and playing the market. Same thing happened with coffee this year. The crops were fine and lots of coffee to go around, but some assholes somewhere in the world started playing around and just you wait to see how your coffee prices are going to go through the roof.

regular unleaded is about 3.91 a gallon

My tacoma and subaru get appx 60 to 70 miles to the tank more with actual unleaded gas and not these designer blends of ethanol. The difference is amazing.Basically pay 1.20 more for the extra mileage. Rich

BTW dunno what the deal is in other parts of the planet...but here in Oz, you can take a pedal bike on to most public transport...trains, buses, trams, etc. (but not during rush hour)...and if its 200 watts or less its still qualified as a pedal bike so you can use it on footpaths, pedestrian malls, public parks etc....and use to to & from mass transit options to get to where your going.

There is a grey line there between completely filling up and filling up half a tank. In half a tank there is more room for the gasoline to become gaseous. That decreases the efficiency of the car since more of your precious gasoline goes up in fumes. Would these two effects (weight vrs. evaporation) cancel each other out?

Most cars built from the early 90's on use a sealed evaporative fuel vapor system. They reintroduce the vapor into the intake manifold to be mixed with the fuel/air mixture. In fact, if fuel vapor leaks out, it'll throw the check engine light on and your car will start to act up a bit on you.

yea dont it suck that $100 cant even fill your truck up (I got a 30 gallon tank) $75 is debit limit here but you press credit it'll go to $100 (even while using the same card)

a couple months ago someone got busted with a very elaborated, & I mean a very elaborated setup to steal gas straight from the gas stations, the cops wouldnt even mention how the setup was made or any details LOL just that the guy would just drive his truck over the lids for the huge gas tanks & park right on top of'em, then just open them up through a access door in the cab floor & just fill up the truck bed full of gas
suppossedly those lids are not really locked, well I guess until now they'll be changing this feature to prevent people from stealing gas striaght from their own tanks LOL

Nice thing here is that public transportation is still dirt cheap. Costs less than 20 cents to go up to 4km. A more private local "taxi" still only averages around 60 cents to $1. Being a former cab driver myself, I actually have started voluntarily overpaying some drivers because their latest fare increase hasn't been big enough and they are still really hurting.

There are a few stations here that are selling for $2.75 and one close to I-40 that's still up to $3.36. Once it goes down under $2.50, I won't complain so much.

I paid 3.45 for mid-grade in CT its about 3.15-19 for regular.

In CT they tax fuel and additional .25 a gallon on top of federal. This year the tax was frozen but will be revisited soon.

Tis' about $3.04 a gal. here but it doesnt matter to me because i sold my car 2 months ago and just ride my mountain bike everywhere now. Grocery shopping can be a bitch(takes a lot of planning) but i've saved like $400 this past month already by riding.

Thats great you could do that Sickmont -- there is so much distance between places I have to go it woudl very difficult... not as difficult as it would be in Texas but difficult none the less

If there was a better mass transit system here i'd be set...i'd go much, much further than the 25 or so mile radius i have. I cant even get to St. Pete or Tampa without renting a car or taking a greyhound(which for $60 for a 35 mile roundtrip will never happen....plus, i cant take my bike without crating it up for shipping). But, basically my biggest issue now(besides the weather obviously) is time and timing...guessing how long a trip will take.

Paid £1 ($2) a LITRE this morning that's nearly $8 a gallon so if your paying $4 your still getting it for half of what we pay

Yeah I'm like that with white van men and any ar*ehole lorry drivers that make me reverse back over small bridges even though it's my right of way. It would help if I could reverse in a straight line too.

In Germany the litre gas is about 1,329 € which is today 1,69 US $. One gallon is 3.79 litres. So the gallon is 6,41 US $. In summer the litre was 1,559 € which was round about 2,34 US $ at that time equivalent to 8,87 US $ per gallon.

its about $2.30 a gallon in VT, $2.15 CT, $2.20 MA, $2.15 NH; at least where i get gas, which isnt far of the interstate, so prices may be much lower elsewhere... I wonder when it will start to climb again..

You'd better have a way to stabilize it for long term storage as well. Gasoline turns varnishy within a few months or so.

I know that happens, I was kinda joking around but it sure would be nice to have a supply of gas (bought cheap) for when the prices go back up to $4 a gallon :( it only took something like 2-3 months to change from $4 -under $2, I can only imagine what it'll be next summer

sorry about the prices where you live. theres a town thats ALWAYS cheaper than the rest of area including most of the city, I plan most of my trips to go through that town if I can so I fill up in the morning or night if needed.
its like they dont plan on gouging the people, which is cool. wonder what they're selling it today for ? it even could be less than $1.89 now  but dont know not going there today.

I was looking at vehicle sales figures for last month here in Florida and it's amazing how stupid people can be. When gas was $4.25 here people were screaming for hybrids, subcompacts, scooters, and anything economical, etc. but now that gas here is $1.99 a gallon guess what the biggest sellers are now? Yep, big-ass gas pig trucks again. Of course, it doesnt help that when the sales declined dramatically the manufacturers started practically giving them away but jeez, are people here really that stupid to think the fuel prices won't rise again? I'm so glad i ride a bicycle, and have no concern over gas prices whatsoever.

you are one of the lucky ones, you save alot of money not spending it on gas, vehicle, insurance, upkeep.

I was spending something like $600-$700 a month just on gas when it was around $3.50+ :(:(
