I fish offshore Charleston SC and caught and released a Blue Marlin yesterday. I tied the lure rigged the bait feed the fish hooked the fish wired her to the boat unhooked her and released. What a feeling the fish probably weighed about 450 lbs. Here are a few fishing pics, still waiting for my peppers to ripen.

Thanks all. I have caught 50 or so billfish in my life and all have been released unharmed. Lucky, if we want to eat we take the Mahi-mahi or Wahoo or sometimes Yellowfin Tuna for the meat. We grilled some dolphin(mahi-mahi) and put some Pico de Gallo on top of the fish and was just like heaven. Here is a 60 lb. dolphin we caught a few weeks ago.

PRF..you and I are kinda alike when it comes to fishing...you practice catch and release and I practice fillet and release...
nice dolphin...isn't it late for dolphin in SC?...my cousin down in Florida fishes exclusively for dolphin during the run which is usually in may-june

Ummmm....is that what you normally do when you catch and keep a Marlin?
I mean, it's not something you normally catch to keep as a pet in your swimming pool or something

IMO...there is not really any use to keep one of these majestic creatures...there are plenty of other food fish you can eat...let 'em grow...one of my fantasies is to go to the great barrier reef for a 7 day fishing trip for Giant Black Marlin...will cost a bunch of money but I am seriously thinking about it as my retirement present to myself....I want to catch a 1000 pound black marlin...biggest fish I have caught to date is a 13' 7" Dusky Shark that weighed 825 pounds...fought him all night...that was in 1974 at Navarre, Florida...

Ummmm...Dude! Catching a massive fish after an hours long battle and letting it go is like you hitting on a Victoria Secret model in a bar and then telling her at the end of the night "Let's be friends.".

Nice shark AJ! I lived in Ft. Walton Beach next to Navarre back when you caught that shark. Navarre is where they filmed most of the movie Jaws and I was asked to be an extra tan kid on the beach but didn't make the movie. I caught a shark bigger than the canoe I was fishing as a kid in Niceville that dragged me under a bridge before I got her close enough to let go. Philipperv, the meat taste terrible sort of like bald eagle. It breaks my heart any time I have to see a Marlin killed.

Thats so cool you lived there at that time PRF...one of my best friends was the captain on one of the camera boats when they were filming Jaws 2 there...I was good friends with the guy that ran the pier at Navarre...after they closed the pier at dark, Roddy and myself would head out to the end of the pier with it all locked up and fish thru the night....I was a wild youngun back in those days....thank the lord I grew up....
