A friend asked me if I wanted to tag along on an airplane ride yesterday. He has one of those 2-seater, homemade planes. I avidly agreed.

It was a rougher ride than I expected, at least flying at 1,000 feet. Once he went to 4,000 feet, it was much smoother.

He even had me fly the plane for a while - not that I really wanted to! Turn left - turn right, turn left a little more. What an experience for this old dog.

I love flying in small planes. I have just enough stick time to kill myself...so I leave that to the pros. Funny ..I'm afraid of heights but put me in a plane with the doors off..no problemo. Turbulence? Same thing..puts me to sleep. Turbulence lets you know the aircraft is still flying. I love it.
Cheers, TB.

God you're brave. I hate flying, you'd never want to go on a flight with me, I turn into a monster, a real moody cow who snaps at anyone who dares speak to me. BTW when you get turbulence what are the chances of the plane falling out of the sky and straight down to earth?

I've never flown, but I've jumped out of one 15 times and do enjoy flying. Sounds like you had some fun there. Also, rainbowberry, it's not so bad. If you don't like planes just jump out of them. Far more memorable experience. Especially when you get caught upside down with your feet tangled in your risers when your shoot opens. Pannicking upside down trying to untangle yourself, getting loose at a few hundred feet and accidentally jettisoning all of your equipment, rucksack, rifle, and all isn't fun. Lets just say everyone there was lucky to not be hit by that falling gear. Did I mention I was cussing alot:shocked::lol:

I can't get enough of it.
I was in C.A.P. when i was in high school and was taking flight lessons for about a year and a half or so then my dumbass lost all my FAA log books.....i was so distraught i just gave it all up instead of starting it all over again.

Lets just say i think you'd have a better chance of hitting the lottery while getting struck by lightning at the same exact time then to have that happen to an aircraft

Thanks Sickmont, maybe I won't be such a grumpy cow now on flights. For some reason though I always seem to get placed next to the wings and those things wobble all over the place, plus the engines make weird "clonking" noises. I don't mind landing (where I'm meant to be landing) because I know I'm coming down to safe ground, it's the taking off, I always think the plane is struggling to climb. It also worries me that they recommend you have your seatbelt on for the whole flight. Knowing my luck if the plane did crash I'd be sitting on the loo.

* LOL, and just when I felt more assured Omri.

Oh I *love* flying! especially rough ones! it's so funny looking at all those frightened people.
Flying is actually safer than driving (I think ).

Give me a rough sea crossing anyday, I can swim, but I can't fly.

Sharks are cute! there is a thing called "falling", though.
You need to fall off boat first for them to get you, but when you fall off a plane... well, there isn't much hope.

There's me thinking of the English channel  You're more likely to come a floating poo swimming in there.

if they didnt wobble, they would break off...

the plane IS struggling to make altitude...

don't want you to break your neck if they hit a low pressure pocket or hit shear

worse things have happened...

How's that for assurance RB?

LOL Omri and Sickmont, It's full of crap, I think I should have said sewerage, same stuff.

AJ that's enough assurance for me, thank you for that, I seriously hate flying it's more a crash fear for me than heights, I don't like heights as my feet go like jelly, not the knees like a lot of people but the height of a plane dosen't bother me, it's too far up if that makes sense. I won't go into the meat they put into their meals 'cos that scares me too.

Actually to a paratrooper there is. (Seriously) It's what you call someone that is young, inexperienced, and you want to STAY away from them in the air. They have a tendency to slip the wrong way and collide with you while descending, or from some reason think it's ok to hover over the top of you and wonder why there parachute keeps leapfrogging, losing air in there parachute and keep falling faster:shocked:. For some reason they like trees instead of fields as well:lol: Yeah, it's not flying, but it just reminded me of that.:)
