For all the veterans on the site, I will call you my brothers. I served as a navy corpsman from 1969-73.
Not a post for war stories, rather a post to say thank you for the sacrifice you have made to keep the lifestyle this country covets alive.
Please all, Monday is Memorial day. Take a few minutes, close your eyes, and imagine the brutality and deaths many of our fellow Americans have suffered, then be thankful we are, as a people, who we are today...
Thank you veterans and God Bless America.

Thank you AJ. There should be more of this for we have helped to have what we have in America. Any service member is my brother and always have something to share.
I served from 1972 to 1992 as recon, military police, medical specialist, recruiter and a physical security non-com. Plus all the other baby sitting jobs tooo, lol
Definitely remember the ones that gave their all for us Monday.

I never served but grew up in a military family. Pop was 26 years as a flight engineer. He went to the Nam in '69. Pop was and will always be my hero. Thanks to all in our armed forces for doing what they do....to allow me the freedom to do what I do.
Cheers, TB.

I kinda grew up in a military type enviroment I was raised by my grandfather and dad..My grandfather was first RCMP then RCAF for many years as a mechanic on the planes..His retirement hobby was being a guard at a maximum security prison where I used to live lol and he was just as strict at home but the stories he used to tell me..man..Growing up in that atmosphere I give all respect to any and all vets out there..

Being a college grad in '72 (high shcool - '68) joing ing the military was not a cool thing to do. But I wished I would have, since Nam ended shortly.
But my dad was one of the most patriotic people I have ever met. We took time from setting tobacco to place flags on the graves of vets every Memorial Day weekend.
I've helped organize the local Blue Star Salute, though this year we sort of gave up on it. Only freeloaders wanted to show up and eat for free, as well as get a free T-shirt and pin.
But I want to thank every vet for making me feel safer as well as the sacrifices you and your family go through.

F Co 425 LRS Aug 2000-Aug 2006. Did a tour in Iraq from Feb 2004-Feb 2005. Also, Don't ask to much about stories my wife knows enough. I do love my country though. Thank you others for serving as well. All I can say as a vet is DO NOT become complacent with the freedoms that you now have. Ignorance and apathy is the greatest destroyer of freedom EVER! As far as the thread here goes though. I'm glad some have taken the time out of there day.

My late Grandfather was a WWII vet....Medic. He didn't talk about it much, but he did show me his collection of SS pistols, collar badges, arm bands, etc...

I've got some money with Saddams face on it, an Iraqi flag captured from an Al-Qaida cell building, and some other stuff as well. Stuff that I'll never sell because the value is immeasurable to me, and I want to pass them down to my kids one day. I also don't blame your grandfather for not talking about it. I have before, but not often and it's usually with my wife or my old army buddies if I do. Thank you for your service as well by the way Devil duck.
