Temps are supposed to get down to single digits through the night this week. I haven't seen any bad affects yet aside from a slowing down of pod production.
And I was nearly killed by a falling tree pumpkin that I didn't know was up there  so look out for them :D

it's usually the drop bears that will sneak up on you like that

I think my plants are sleeping. it's pretty cool overnight in Sydney already.

well up until Friday we'd had 13 consecutive days of rain - now as you know we don't complain about too much rain anymore here in Oz, but come on - do we really need that much all in one go?

we've had some sun peppered cloudy days with a bit of warmth though not sure of the exact temps. the last few nights have been pretty cool though. need to wear pyjamas and a beanie to bed!

"Man Killed By Fallen Tree Pumpkin"

In breaking news a slim, capsaicin addict was killed in Queensland today by a rather large airborne butternut pumpkin while tending his pepper plants. Local authorities have said there were no suspicious circumstances and terrorism had been ruled out. However police would like to speak with several THP members spotted in the vicinity, around the time of the accident, seen carrying a bbq'd leg of lamb, a few bags of chiles and a dozen or so bottles of Pain2.

rain! you're lucky. I'm back to bucket watering this week. Just had 2 days of strong westerlies and everything is looking pretty ragged. Haven't had rain for weeks but other parts of brisbane have.

You do know if you stop shaving the cranium nature will provide you with a beanie.

I reckon a slim fellow like yourself could be taken down by a butternut! using a QLD blue would be a waste.

sounds like there'll be some pumpkin soup at the Nerd House tonight, that should stave off the chills.

That's not cold. a bit chilly, but that's it.

well we don't get snow here, the lowest winter temp is usually no worse than -1 or -2. cold, like heat, is relative.

a few years ago I lived in north Queensland, in the tropics. the house I rented had a swimming pool and I was using it almost every day during August. the locals couldn't believe it as they were cold (August is the last month of winter here). I had moved up from Sydney and their winter was my late Spring and the water was warm to me.

-2 is where it starts to get cold. but anything hotter than subzero is chilly.

For chilis it IS cold!

On the latest news, Brisbane PD reported that the high level of alcohol in the victims blood as well as matching scratch marks on the tree and the body may indicate that the Brisbane resident climbed up the tree in a state of full intoxication.
The puddles of drool underneath the tree were investigated by the local police lab and as Sgt. X. Purt explained to our station this morning, the conclusion was drawn that the victim must have slept on the tree with his mouth wide open for several hours before losing balance and falling of the branch.
Several attempts to revive him or the pumpkin he crashed into at St.Pod hospital and the local nursery respectively failed.

last night was the coldest April night in Sydney for 9 years, with the last two nights both being below 5 deg C in my suburb.

looks like a long winter with many nights/weekends logged on to THP to try to keep warm
