HOT CONTEST!!

Hi all damn chilihead :hell: during winter i'll grow 5 plant of pepper in the same condition feed with exacly the same dose of water and food .The five strain are :

-Naga Morich(hottest pepper World record )from la palma
-The legendary 7Pod/Pot (direct from Trinidad via a T'dad Girl:P)
-Trinidad Scorpion(from a great guy name Potawie)
-Trinidad Scorpion (direct from Trinidad via a T'dad girl:P)
-Trinidad Douglah (an other Super hot from T'dad via a T'dad girl to)

I grow them in miraclegrow, with a 45w cfl in a small aquarium , and when they'll get big enought i'll put them in my grow room with a 250w HCFL .

thanks ABurningMouth !! the scorpions are growing so fast ...you can see a difference each day ...7pod and douglah have take a lot of time to sprout and my naga did'nt sprout yet ...but I'm just happy that naga don't sprout (that prouve they are Capsicum chinense naga)

The moment I'm getting my hands on Trinidad peppers, I'll be growing them in large quantities (That's also what I'm planning to do with my Nagas).

QuebecFire - I think we got seed from the same generous lady. I too recieved some great pics today from her, 7pod, scorpion, morugah, douglah, congo pepper etc. great pics and quickly germinating seeds. she is a saint for being so generous to a stranger. I will be happy to share seed at the end of the season if my plants grow ok.

naga did sprout :shocked:... I'm thinking it was maybe a misstake to start just one seed but i'll wait an other week and stard an other if the bean dont sprout ...all other are in great conditon and grow fast :hell:

Ps : the douglah is weird the first leaves are strange but seem to be in great shape so ?! lol this pepper is defenitly weird

POTAWIE : I'm also growing pepper outdoor during the summer but I dont have any place for a garden so I grow them on my deck in 5 gallon pots...but the winter is too long so i decide this year to grow some indoor !!

Some of my best plants were deck plants. They get heat from not being on the ground and they get good air circulation and constant attention since they are close and more noticable and less effort to water.

It depends on many factors but lighting is very important. I got my first Naga pod last season in March from a plant started in Nov/Dec.

Wow QuebecFire, your plants are growing FAST. What are you feedinhg them with? OMG. I've got your list growing in my basement as well, but I don't have a hydro system or high powered lights.

I can't wait to see Trinidad Douglah either. I keep searching for a yellow 7-pod. It seems as if it has to exist with so many crosses in Trinidad.

I've been trying to get a hold of your "generous friend" for a while, but she's not been responding. I wonder what happened. I'm guessing too many people may have e-mailed her and she got frustrated. Total speculation though. There could be a million explanations. I learned never to jump to conclusions because it's VERY easy to be wrong!

I'm glad your plants are doing so well. Between all of us, we should have seed to share in late 2008.

Now, what is the real '7-pod / 7 pot' is the true question? There appears to be no one description even with Trinidad. The similarities are obvious though.

Be sure to let us know which one you think is the hottest. I'm doing a major grow-out of these hot ones this season, but I am not sure if I will continue after 2008. I can only take so much of the incredible heat. But........I always say that and get lured in. lol. :mouthonfire:

I think the shape of the pod can be lil deferent but the big caracteristic of this pod is the pimply skin and if you search hard you will be able to get a lot of pix on the web of the mytic 7pod ;)

Thanks for the news QuebecFire. I knew water was good for something.

I wasn't trying to contact Sara for seeds. We actually did a trade already. I sent her 12 varieties+ of C. Baccatums for Christmas and I never heard if she got them. I just wanted confirmation.

You are correct in that her seeds do germinate extremely well. I am near 100% germination with most varieties. I am very impressed.

The Compact Fluorescens idea is intriguing seeing your success. I'm going to give that a go soon. On a small scale. My plants under regular shop lights do NO WHERE near so well as yours. I have the lights about 1-2 inches from the plant tops.

FYI, IF I ever find a yellow 7-pod, I'll put you on top of the list. lol. I'm not holding my breath though. I may get lucky with a cross though. :) I'll keep everyone informed.

Yes, I have searched and I beieve your picture is an accurate representation. It is direct from CARDI so I have no reason to believe otherwise. Pod shapes vsry substantially though, but general characteristics are similar. Did I mention, they're HOT too. lol.

yes I use just miracle grow but I for me I prefer pro-mix...this time I use miracle grow cause i run out of pro mix and I got some miracle grow and I was too hurry to re-pot them ! but it seem to work too

HAHA I was shure ...it was the first thing I observe on the Trinidad douglah ,the 4-5 first pair of leafs was really strange ,I was thinking that maybe water fall on the leaf and do it but as I can see on your picture it seem to be characteristic for this pepper ...but now my douglah is a lot bigger and under the leaf there is like a million of ?!trichrome ( I dont know how explicat it )for people who know thc they will understand ...but it's like a million of lil crystal under the leaf and those are not egg of spyder myte or aphid ..I look a piece of leaf under the microscope ...so it's really weird the plant is looking really healty so I think this is probably normal .....maybe it's an over load of caps in the plant LOL ...but for now I dont know

Capsaicin crystals are oozing out of the leaves of the plant. :hell: I can't put my finger on it either, but it looks different in some ways to typical C. Chinense leaves.

Perhaps Omri can chime in if he has the same experience. I believe he said he's growing it too.

Kracker : I have made a cutting from the Douglah but I cant make more cutting cause I dont have any free space in the grow room :(

AJ: no I cant extend the grow room ..but my next one will be bigger ....I use 2 x 40watt cfl (5200k if my memory is good) with 2 homemade aluminium reflector (painted in white) ...so nothing really complex ;)...cfl work really well ,are cheap ,low heat ,low electic cost...and the plant grow fast ....really fast LOL I cut them 6 inches under the light last week , and this week they start to touch the light so..6 inch a week is big ! but I will cut them during maybe 2 month than put them out

I've seen citrus trees "espaliered" in court yards of small houses. It's a great way to get the most out of any small area -- no matter what the crop.

I'm back !! it make like more than a month that I didnt come on thp and just let my thread die .....but know i'm back with more time :) I just start all my outdoor plant tonight for 2008 I'll make a complete list of what I grow in the next days...my 5 hot buddy are still alive :hell: my 7pod is just amazing (thanks again trinihottie) I just fingered it there is 4 days and the pod is big like a bleuberry , the t'dad douglah still grow well but i'll still continu to cut the flower for some week ...my naga morich is like 3 inch tall LOL i just keep it as small as I can ,and it seem to work LOL and finaly the 2 scorpion as been cut like 10 or 15 time so they seem a lil tire and need to ben re-pot ...anyway i'll post some new pix tomorow !!!! REALY GLAD TO BE BACK !!! :lol:

yes the pepper is growing upwards...I think it's because the fruit is small or because the plant as been cut many time befor produce a fruit but look how it grow in 2 day :

Damn straight, I am gowing them in full sun and the plant is nice and stressed (read the dog almost ate it and the kids kick the soccor ball at it all the time lol).... so even though its starting to get cooler I think they should still be very very hot, just hope they are a good size.

Douglah is about to open 12 flowers. Will get some pegs etc. tomorrow & isolate the whole plant.

nasty insides thats for sure, entirely covered with thin placental tissue!!this is what bbs nagas were like, its weird because the top of the pod was as hot as the toe....( very even heat distribution.) I hope my sevens look as good.

I put all my plant outside during the week end and re-pot them in 5gal bukket and day look happy 2d :D now I just have to wait they become some pepper tree YEAHHHH ! some NAGA,SCORPION,7POD AND DOUGLAH TrEE WOUHOUUU it make like 6 month that I'm working on it !!!I hope you all enjoy ;)

Hi all ,
yesterday we got a f"/%ing storm and the wind was so hard that it blow off more than the half of the leaves on my douglah plant :shocked: and a chair fall on one of my t'dad scorpion but it seem to be ok ....but for the douglah i'm pretty sure that it will die.But there is a huge pod in the plant so there will be baby from this plant!!

I had also notice that more the plant is stress more the ''pimply'' skin is visible and than more the pepper got placintal skin so it make the pepper hotter! (but it is hard to tell cause my tong is'nt a scotvill test ...so )

I'd keep your plant out of direct sunlight or bright light for a few days and see if new growth starts and maybe give it some super-thrive or B1.

I just cut my last 7pod there is 2 minut and inside this one there is a clear liquid inside maybe one or two ml ...this liquid is realy hot and taste realy good !! realy purgent

PS: 7 pod seed have not been sent yet ! BUT DONT WORRY I will send them soon ;) with some extra things !

hehe thanks all ! I just decide to rip my douglah pod cause lil kids was playing around and I was scary about my PRECIOUS !! so ...anyway it was fully brown outside but lil greenish inside !there was 52 seeds in the first pod !once again there is a lot of placintal skin inside (more than the seven pod IMO)and seem lil hotter than 7pod (I made the test side by side with the 7pod nanananan :party:) but the taste is less fruity and purgent than 7pod :
