I'm new here, and I am really looking for a good hot sauce that has what many people just don't understand....taste. I'm sure everyone here knows the difference between having a "smoking ember in your mouth in liquid form" versus having a "smoking ember in your mouth in liquid form that *tastes* good". I am looking for a sauce like that. Now, I can eat an habanero by myself, in one sitting, so I think I can take a good hit, but I would like to purchase a nice hot sauce, or paste, or even rub, that comes near the habanero in intensity but can give a pleasant taste. Any suggestions from anyone? :)

Well, you've come to the right place. Most, if not all here, agree that taste is most important. Far be it from me to give a shameless plug for my sauce though. :hell:

*LOL* I'll keep that in mind, DEFCON! As long as a good taste is cooked into it, I'm willing to give it a try.

I agree with Defcon all the producers here make sauces with flavor first that still have heat.
I think if you try any of the sauces from the producers on this forum you'll find what you are looking for.

So as long as I try them, I'll probably find what I'm looking for. Cool! Thanks!

I think Marie Sharp's is some of the best commercial hot sauce I've ever had.

I don't think there is a conection between Melinda's and Marie Sharp's anymore although at one point I heard that was the case. I'd like to know the skinny on that deal.

Marie Sharp's is made in Belize. I first tasted it when a friend of mine brought some back from there. I've had Melinda's and to me there is no comparison; it pales next to Marie Sharp's delicious concoctions.

Marie Sharp's is made in Belieze. I first tasted it when a friend of mine brought some back from there. I've had Melinda's and to me there is no comparison; it pales next to Marie Sharp's delicious concoctions.

Melinda's is a product of the Figueroa Brothers...whose company hails out of Kenner, LA...right near much of Hurrican Katrina's damage. You can read about them here:

From that site:

Following is an example of four renamed brands that we already produce.

then ...........I see nothing.

( edit to add)

OK, I see the little Flash thingies for the sauces they make....there's one for Melinda's and one for Daves , si...but I don't see anything about Marie Sharps..........

I know Marie Sharps is made in Belize because

1. My friend lives there part time and brought me some from there
2. It says so right on the bottle "Product of Belize"

Interesting... Last I heard, Melinda is Marie Sharp or at least was, before she became Melinda that is... Perhaps someone else has taken over the Marie Sharp label and it really is being produced in Belize still. Perhaps that is an old bottle? Dunno. It is entirely possible that my information is incorrect when it comes to Marie Sharp, things change. If so, I should stand corrected. What I now need at least is a reliable second source for that information.

I know for a fact ( well to my scorched taste buds) that there is no comparison between Melinda's and Marie Sharps. MS is THE BEST comercial hot sauce I have ever had...it's wonderful. Melinda's is just there. Boring. I don't buy it.

Perhaps time to rethink MS. Because, I'm with you, Melinda's is boring.
