There CANT be ANY beer that good, single malt scotch yes, beer no. And I live in the country were they brew the very best beers, and I've not even come close to trying 1/100 of them.

if that beer is so good, how come no-one has drunk it? huh? probably tastes like crap.
you drink it, no it tastes like crap - you drink it, no you drink it, no you drink it... ahhh, stick it back in the fridge, someone'll drink it

german beer is great, but only someone who lives there would say its the best beer..
similar to my opinion that american beer is the best. :)
no one would drink that beer. it will be bought and put in a museum because it is now the worlds oldest bottle of beer.
and no single malt scotch is worth 500,000. you could buy a beer, or a house. and a 911 turbo. uh yeah thats really a no brainer to me

I don't think it's the oldest bottle of beer... It's the history behind it. After 100+ years, it would be undrinkable.
It's kinda like buying a mint condition Hudson Super 8. Not the most beautiful car that was ever made, just the rarity and history will snatch top $$$.
I don't think it's the oldest bottle of beer...
i guess you missed this part:
On Aug-04-07 at 10:03:53 PDT, seller added the following information:
Further research suggests that this is the oldest known sealed bottle of beer in the world. The bottle believed to be the oldest was a bottle of 1869 Ratcliffs, combine that with a recent high sale on the worlds oldest sealed bottle of Scotch (1858), without exceptional history, @ 14,000 GBP apx $28,650. and this sealed historic bottle of Allsopp's Arctic Ale is about as rare as they get. Use it for a great advertising promotion, put your bar, club, or restaurant on the map by having the worlds oldest and most historic known bottle of beer, a real once in a life opportunity!!! Not to mention all of the attributes to this bottles history and provenance!!

hmmm... after seeing the bid history go from $1.00 to $503,300.00 in 10 days I can't help but think this is probably a rigged auction. I may be wrong but this just seems like an attempt to massively increase the interest on ebay for the "Extremely Rare" beer. I just have a feeling that this will be relisted with a note saying the first buyer failed to pay for the item and to "get it while you can". Call me a pessimist if you will but this just seems a little strange to be a completely normal auction.
Looking at the bid history, there are several people doing repeat bids with no compitetion.

no one does "repeat bids with no competition". they set a max, and people bid, and if you dont topple the max it still lists you as bidding.
