Yay! Tropical Strom Barry might pass through here sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning and I NEED RAIN! It's been more than a month since I've had any rain. My lawn crunches when I walk on it.

I think Australia is in the need for alot of rain...

Be sure to collect some for drinking (well, that is after all the pllutants come down in the first few hours of heavy rain)! The best drink (outside of alchol) I've ever had was fresh rain water. Mmmmm, so good.

Rain? We just went through the driest May on record and if it takes a tropical storm to get some rain, I'm up for it. There are already watering restrictions on the end of town where all the development is, and it's only a matter of time before the whole area is on watering restrictions.

I have to get in line to wish for Barry to bring rain this far, though. I suspect most of Florida and Georgia is hoping ole' Barry puts out a few forest fires.

Heres the radar for the Cape Fear NC region, and Columbia is just barely in the radar. Anticipating this rain reminds me of waiting on Santa Claus as a kid. :lol:

Well, we're not going to get flooding, we're looking at 2 to 4 inches, which is wonderful. I'm like you, though, I hope it doesn't all come at once. The ground is so dry and hard it'll just run off if the rain is hard and quick.

We're getting some misty sprinkles, no real rain yet.

Yup! Same here, but we did get 4-5 hrs of heavier rain during the early morning today. Lots of lightning too! The yard and pepper patch loved it!

Have you witnessed that lightning causes plants to go through a growth spurt?

I have heard that lightning releases Nitrogen from the atmosphere...haven't checked that out myself but sounds plausible.

We got a solid 10 hours of rain...no flooding, but just a good, solid steady rain. Thank God...after no rain for like 4 months, it was getting a bit sketchy down here.

And now, of course, this place is like a freakin' steambath here. 90+ degress and around 2 billion precent humidity.....BLEAH!

12 hours - 44mm (1.5") so far and still raining. Even getting some in the dams (they were built to save us from the regular flooding we used to get - not drought).
I've been standing at the back door half the night gawking at it like some neanderthal at an eclipse.
More over next 48 hours is the forecast. We haven't had more than 50 mm in one go for about 3 years. Its 10 am here & I think I'll crack a beer.
