Is chili still called one alarm, two alarm, three alarm for the heat levels?

Some people use it I think; I've seen it used for "just add beef and water" chilis they sell at the supermarket, so I'd say its still in use.

I just remember hearing "three alarm chili" for the real hot stuff, and wondered if that exists within the chili circles, or if that's more of a marketing/consumer thing. I'm thinking the latter.
A quick google turns up lots of recipes for three and four alarm chili.

I thought it referred to the number of different types of chiles used in your chili, that is 3 different types of pods = 3 Alarm. I guess as an extension of this concept, the greater number of chiles, the higher the heat level.
