Byron Bay Chilli Co. - Gold Habanero chilli sauce with mango.

Water, Vinegar, Mango (32%), Habanero Chillies (20%), Lime Juice, Salt, Spices, Xantham Gum.

What can I say...I've eaten cheese sandwiches with more scovilles. Pathetic dishwater. This is the 3rd time I've tried "hot" sauce from Byron Bay Chilli Co. & I think closest they get to a hot pepper is the drawing on the label. I'm ready to start a petition and call these clowns out into the carpark for a "discussion" about false advertising.

Still, just inspires me more to start making my own sauces when the yield allows.

Or importing some from your neck of the woods...think I could probably sell a case or 2 over here.

We know that sauce well. I think it used to be Ashif's Chili Experience before he sold out to Byron Bay had the pleasure of meeting both Ozzie gentlemen John Boland and Ashif a few years back.

Over there in Oz have you tried Redback Chili Companies Range of sauces? Some of my personal favorites.

I went to the FOX news school of fair & balanced reporting.

I haven't seen redback, met a few though. I'll try to track some down. Know what city they're from?

They are from down in Jindivick, Victoria. The Pleasure and Pain is my personal favorite. Became good friends with the owner Horrible Haggis went drinking with him several times. The website is redbackchilli.com if you ever have the chance to meet haggis hell of anice guy.

yeah this stuff is not hot - I don't know where they get the 20% habanero from... I think it's been deseeded and deplacental membraned also

you're spot on with that Kato - Ashif's stuff was an excellent tasting green Jalapeno sauce, not hot but VERY tasty

sorry to say but I found the Horrible Haggis to be just plain horrible! I liked the label though. maybe the bottle may have been close to expiry when I got it (I bought it from a lolly shop in the Southern Highlands of NSW so it may have been sitting there for a while) so I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

Redback Chilli has a great reputation.

Pleasure and Pain +1

I know this is an old thread but had to post on it.
Ashif had some great stuff, did you know the Cayenne sauce BB co win all the awards for was his as well... makes you think.

Redback is good gear (I really like his relishes) and like Kato says Haggis is a wild man I'm heading to his festival in February to sell some sauce and because I'm a gluten for punishment and have a problem with my drinkng lol

Bent from what I've heard the BBc hab sauce is no longer in production due to basically what you said... god I hope I never upset you man.

wow - you've been doing some catching up - this would have been one of my first posts.
I did suffer this BS again at the BB chilli festival. There was a break in the storm on Sat. night & I ducked around the corner from the van park with the boy to BB co takeaway. We got some enchiladas & guess what was the only choice of 'very hot' sauce they offered.....it fitted quite well with the cardboard texture of the food, so I can see where they're coming from.
I didn't even stop at their stall at the festival for the free samples :P

I call it how I see it.

just gonna bump an old thread cause i was linked to it. But damn this is the worst tasting sauce ever. It tastes like maggots combined with fecal matter the liquid component im pretty sure is toilet water from a public urinal.

BUYER BEWARE.

I guess that quality can slip somewhat when people sellout to large supermarket chains. But thats it in the end passion or dollars, I get people who come in the shop and give me greif about paying $7 dollars fora bottle of hotsauce becauce they can get a bottle of BBC from woolies or were ever for $3 or what ever.
But I can garentee I personally oversee evry facet ofmy sauce making process (except the labels because I have no patients and my missus and kids do it.)
I only use fresh pods not bladder habanero and we source the freshest ingredients I can. I am biased but man you can taste the difference.
I'm not trying to pan BBC but if your fingers not on the pulse bad reviews happen.
Incidently I think this hab sauce is pretty much deleted from their range.

ANYWAY BUY MY SAUCE INSTEAD LOL

I had an online retailer e-mail me saying their range of Byron Bay sauces were great. I never bought them and I'm glad I didn't after reading these posts. Buy Stillmanz, it's fantastic.
