So I'm a noob here, came upon the site after searching on google for the hottest hot sauces. I had been eating some Dynosaur's Devils Duel but it is pretty weak, ended up just putting a bunch in my mouth and swishing it around and being disappointed lol.
Stayed up all night reading about this stuff and learning alot lol. :P
From what I have seen so far, I seem to find that the hottest hot sauce that is actually a sauce and not an extract is Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally - The Smack Heard Around The World with an SHU of 700,000. Anything higher seems to be an extract not to be used without dilution or for cooking. I ordered some on Amazon for $14 shipped but its not scheduled to ship for a few days so I could cancel it if there is something better to try.
Some of your guys' posts here though seem to imply some people use the hotter stuff on food anyway?
Anyway my main question is what is the best tasting and hottest hot sauce? :)
Thanks!

Welcome mirch lover...I can't help you out to much, I am still in the process of working my way up the heat scale and trying all the sauces myself.

First of all - welcome! Great place to learn
Secondly - if Smack my Ass is rated at 700K Scoville - it has to be an extract sauce. Even the Red Savina is only rated at 577K, and so far no Naga sauces. There are alot of sauces that use extract to kick them up a bunch.
Personally - I love Talon from CaJohn's. Red Savina and Fatallis in there, no extract at all, and HOT.

Heat and taste are mutually exclusive qualities. The purpose of use also has a lot to do with whether something will be good or not as well. Some of my favorite sauces are milder ones because they have great flavor. That said, my five favorite all around sauces are (in no particular order) Blair's Original Death, Uncle Brutha's No. 10 sauce, Cape Fear's Red Savina sauce (hottest of the five IMO), Kato's Island Sauce, and Walkerswood Scotch Bonnet sauce. All five have very different tastes and feature different peppers. E.Z. Earl's Blazin' Hot stuff is the best BBQ available, Defcon takes the wings, and Marco's salsa's are amazing.
I think the best sauces usually come from the smaller, limited line makers, and ones that don't try to be insanely hot.

I know there are tons out there I am just trying to avoid trying everything and go straight to the best ones based on people's experiences.
I did actually come across a Naga sauce. It is called Mr. Naga.

Can personally vouch for C.F. Red Savina. My customers loved it and I will be picking up a case in April to get me through the summer. Hot AND tasty!

Thats half the fun trying all the sauces. Granted it gets expensive. Your taste may differ from the reviewers, had a few award winners I didn't think where great and then had some that should have won awards but didn't.

What is a mirch?
Thanks Cap'n! Everytime I see your name I think of Captain Crunch for some reason, lol! :P
Mirch, mirche, mircha, mirchi, morich, etc is the Urdu/Hindi/Bengali word for pepper! :)

True it may be fun trying all the sauces, but it is expensive and I don't have alot of money to try them. Just a poor college student here who loves eating really hot stuff. I feel like I need to put it on almost everything these days. I can't get enough of that mouth on fire high, it's like a drug! :onfire:
Well it looks like I will try a couple now because americanspice.com and Amazon.com did not cancel my order upon request and have shipped to me Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally - The Smack Heard Around The World, lol. Oh well, guess I will try it and see how it is.
I am also getting some Cape Fear's Red Savina based on all the recommendations here. I will post my thoughts after trying them. I also think this forum/community just for hot pepper lovers is pretty funny and cool, lol. :)

I'm a poor college student (sort of) too, but that didn't stop me from spending almost 3% of my income on hot sauce last year. Some of us are more committed than others ;)

lol well if that makes you proud, good for you man...thanks for judging my "commitment" but I have to budget my funds to priorities first. I'm still struggling to buy my textbooks for this semester the second week in. Some of us don't have the luxury to spend that kind of money on trying every hot sauce. ;)
My Cape Fear's Red Savina is on the way though! :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like an attack, thus the ;) guy. It was just something goofy I noticed when doing some financial record keeping a few nights ago, I didn't realize how much I spent on hot sauce relative to mortgage & bills. I also didn't realize that my 3% was also the result of not factoring in my secondary income sources.

lol np sorry I took it the wrong way. :)
Smack My Ass And Call Me Sally came in yesterday. I have to say I am pretty disappointed, the flavor sucks. It is definitely very hot....it has the heat. But it does not taste good at all, not a sauce you would want to put on top of your food. Just pure heat to add in during cooking or something. If I remember the taste correctly, it pretty much tastes like cayenne pepper powder, an initial sweet taste then heat...just very strong.
I also wonder about the claimed 700k Scoville rating...seemed about as hot as Dave's Insanity sauce. Maybe not an equal comparison, but was not nearly as hot as fresh orange habenero pepper. Doesn't have the awesome taste or head rush feeling either.
It lists pepper extract in the ingredients....does that classify it as an extract? Should it not then be marketed as a sauce or condiment for food? Sure is worthless for that purpose, in my opinion.

Just because something has extract in it does not mean it shouldn't be marketed as a sauce. Our Defense Condition #1, which is quite hot, has some extract in it, but retains a good flavor as well. If something is pure extract, it should be labeled as a condiment or additive.

Man that's the best.... Happened at Casa Huvasona few weeks ago. My wifes brothers thought they were tough when they saw me eating a raw habanero. One ended up crying, another actually cut the membrane and seeds out (with BARE hands) and then went to the bathroom - not pretty.
Then later I broke out some extract and another brother (with beer muscles) wanted some. Well after me and my brother warned him repeatly, he took some. THought I was going to have to call an ambulance! :mouthonfire:

Speaking of extracts, I keep a botle of Defcon Condition Zero at work to initiate the noobs. Some people get the "Man Dose" which consists of a 1/4 a spoon full of it....they end up crying and get an endorphin rush. Fun time is had by all.
