If you hire an established co-packer to produce your product, who's responsible to carry the insurance?

I do believe it's them, the co-packager. Don't take my word for it, though. I'm sure someone will be along eventually add their info.

We carry liability, too. Better safe than sorry. Our FDA licensed/approved Co-Packer carries the bulk of product liability, but we do make smaller batches ourselves when test marketing new flavors.

There is a HUGE price difference. Shop around...not just for price, but for an agent that will explain everything!

You will want to cover all bases in the event of a lawsuit. The co-packer is the manufacturer, but then can flip it and say it's your recipe, etc. That is what I believe, but I'm not a professional, I'm sure some sauce makers will chime in.

You should seriously consider getting your own as well. And like it was mentioned - shop around around!
Better to be safe than sorry.

Get your own product AND personal liability. That is, unless you don't care if you have somewhere to live.

You are covered under their insurance until the product leave their premises..after that you BETTER have your own...
