We're having a little Oktoberfest celebration tonight at the Hellhouse. I'd like to hear others thoughts on Bratwurst.

Right now I'm boiling some fresh brats in Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen and I threw a little chipotle and fatali powder in there as well. Next up they go on the grill. I'm gonna eat 'em on a hoagie roll with Clausen sauerkraut and some fancy mustard...maybe some Slimm & Nunne Maple Peppercorn (http://www.mustardmuseum.com/product/2193/10) that we got at Zest Fest or their Hit And Run Yellow Horseradish Mustard (http://www.mustardmuseum.com/product/2196/10)...which will blow the top of your head off with horseradish heat. Or maybe some Danny Cash Flaming Mustard (http://www.dannycash.com/Spicy_Hot_Habanero_Pepper_Mustard.htm). So many mustards, so few brats!

Then to drink I've got a bottle of The Kaiser by Avery (http://www.averybrewing.com/BigBeers/seasonal/kaiser) in the fridge.

Mmmmm....getting hungry!

I have some suggestions! Grill them first, then into the crock pot with beer, butter, and onions. I had them this way in Milwaukee, and they were great! If you grill second they won't be as juicy and flavorful.

Interesting! I may have to try that at some point.

The ones last night were fan-freak'n-tastic. Best brats I've had so far.

Try making your own brats. I've been making them for years. Not hard at all. I love watching my wife handle the natural casings, she's totally grossed out by them. LOL!
