I grew a small (?) ornamental type purple pepper called: Purple Sparkler for years, I had managed to keep seed/a plant going for 5 yrs and moved and lost seed and plant both . I have searched for years trying to find a source of the seed. I even contacted the place I originally bought the seed from and they were not helpful at all, just saying they didn't carry that seed anymore:( I would be willing to buy this seed if anyone knows where I could obtain it. Thanks for any help!!!!

What size and shape are the peppers? Do they start or finish purple?
Try the chileman's database(search:purple)

The name is in the database...No picture and no description....They start out as purple and are round and small about marble sized. The foliage is dark green and purplish ..the flower is white tinged in purple also, these are very compact low growing...no more then 12 inches tall...the purple pepper changes from purple to all shades of orange, yellow and brownish and then red. They are a medium in heat and and just like eating candy. Until I found the name in the database I was beginning to think that the company I originally got seed from had just named them Purple Sparkler and that they were proable some other name.

Reimers has a purple sparkler but I don't think its even purple and not round.

Also try "Marbles" pepper which sounds close but is yellow before the purple stage.

I suspect that the dealer I originally got seed from had either miss named it or gave it the name of Purple Sparkler, as it appears that the real purple sparkler is a tapered type pepper. The ones that seem to be close are: Purple Prince (Pretty in Purple), Purple Varigated & Peruvian Purple. So it looks like I may have to try a few varities and see if one of them is close or maybe the pepper I am seeking. What a shame that the dealer that I got the seed from did this...I bought the seed from Pinetree in 1996. I appreciate all the effort you have put into trying to help me find this pepper. It makes me sick now that I realize that it had the wrong name attached to it, thats proable why they quit carrying the seed.
