A few years ago I bought seeds from fataliiseeds called eximium x frutescens. I was wondering if anyone know the history of this pepper and if it is truly a cross between eximium and frutescens. According to the crossing matric eximium will cross with frutescens and and even baccatum. Has anyone here ever crossed a eximium with either frutescens or baccatum? I have never seen or heard of it and wondered what the flowers might look like.
couple years back i purchased seeds for Fruxim (frutescens x eximium) though not from Fataliiseeds. I purchased my seeds from Mojopeppers.
Â
I have since saved and grown it each year
I have noticed some variation in the flowers though none have ever looked like eximium flowers to me
5 Petal this is the more common on those i have grown out then the 6 petal

6 Petal
Â
as you can see neither look like many of the other eximium flowers.

Â
I originally got two different phenotypes, but only continued to save seeds from the larger podded type which i also thought tasted better
Â
they ripen from a pale green to a green with purple blush, at which time the green starts to become less pale
Â
as the purple begins to fade away they start to turn Red
Â
they continue to ripen until they are a candy apple redÂ
Â
They doÂ
not fall of easily when picked like many other frutescens I have grown doÂ
Â
While they seem to me to be much more frutescens than eximium I will continue to grow them, as i like; the taste, burn profile, and they are decently productive even here in my short growing season.Â
Â
wish i could find more pictures, hope my response is of some help to you
